Track results from last night

Went to Mororso last night and ran a personal best of 11.93@119.8. My 60 foot time was a 1.96. I was running my new 19" rims with the vredsteins. I was unable to get a good launch because I couldn't effectively drive around the water box. My other 3 runs were 12.0's@119.

My mods are an ASP pulley and LET tune. I'm still running the stock heat exchanger/intercooler pump, which I know is hurting me. I'm confident that with drag radials and a larger heat exchanger it will do 11.50's.

It was about 60 degrees out and conditions were good. There were 2 Nissan GTRs that were running around 12.1-12.2. The E represented in full form.

Ya, those guys must really be enthused about their nearly $100k purchase, after getting their doors blown off by a 5000lb luxury sedan, while knowing they can't go any faster without voiding their warranty. LOL.

Must really make them feel good.

Don't know what the GTR's trapped, but I know at least one of them was using launch control.

Nice run and very nice MPH.

What tire pressure did you run in the rear tires? A good 1.80-ish sixty and you would have run around a low 11.7!

nice times. drag radials should help but don't expect too much from the h/e and i/c pump unless your oem pump isn't working properly.

I also witnessed some pretty interesting track bloopers, including:

1) A kid who was driving his dad's C6 vette was racing a GTR when he lost control as he shifted into 2nd gear and went straight into the wall. He was ok, but the car was not.

2) An older mustang launched so well that his entire right wheel/axle assemblu ripped out of from the differential and landed 3 feet away.

3) A ford lightning caught on fire. Go figure.

30 psi. I hear the vredsteins don't like it when you go lower than that.

119 is no joke..

I have the same mods.. so.. I would be happy to trap anywhere near your speed.

+1, Great run in the 55 by the way!!! Us C32 guys feel the same way when we run with the Vettes and ask them, "You Paid what for what??"

If you go to the Nissan forums, there's a ton of posts about the warranty issue and using the launch control etc. I guess you NOT supposed to use something they put on the car?? Go figure. Lawyers locked that one up in the owners manual too. Don't do this and don't do that!!

One way to find out

DO you know your race weight?

I have to agree with Chiromikey on the H/E and pump. Been doing a lot of datalogging on runs and rapid recovery is the main benefit to be seen. I plan to add a H/E soon, just for the extra capacity and recovery time..The water in your I/C, H/E system and lines is what basically is used on your 11 second run. That water is X temp when you start your run and the fresh cooled return water will just be starting to make a full circle when the lights flash your time. This is generally speaking. Say you do run the full circle of water at mid track or 93MPH and hit 140 deg. IAT and power mgt goes into effect , you still lose very little ET and MPH at that stage in the game.

You have 3 solid tenths to be gained just by working on the 60ft. I would start there first , as long as your pump is working well. Again, very nice MPH! I wonder if your tune keeps timing from being pulled at 140 deg anyway and fuel being dumped..

Congrats on a nice run! That trap is VERY strong for a stage 1 car. With proper launch setup, you will be pulling mid 11s no problem.

Hats off to LET, again, for putting another satisfied customer down the strip with some amazing numbers. They definitely have the ASP, stage 1 thing worked out on the tuning. I haven't seen very many stage 1's trapping in excess of 120 mph (a few of the previous recordholders on dragtimes pulled 120.4Xs). Bottom line is that your car is running about as strong as it can, given the limited mods you have. Trapping around 120 mph in these cars with simply a pulley and a proper tune is AMAZING!

Here is another example of a E55; Rflow ran with a ASP pulley/ tune and ET street tires. He ran on the same track but had a little worse D/A MINUS 21 feet.. You had around a MINUS 231 feet below sea level D/A= .02 worth of help. His traction alone gave him a solid 11.57 ET at 121 plus mph! This is also assuming both race weights were close.

Again, very nice MPH..

Nice times!!! What's the right way to get maximum launch on a E55? Just mash the throttle or ease it down? I'm assuming you leave the traction control on normal ?

Congrats on some great times and trap speeds.

Reading this just confirms my decision to go with the LET tune and pulley. There have been many examples of strong running cars tuned by them not just one ringer.

My setup will be slightly different. I will have a 172mm pulley and Kleeman headers. Should be fun!

Yup, and they're disabling the launch control trick for 2010 models. I wonder if they're going to revise their published performance numbers.

99% chance it will still be in the code just disabled, kind of like the European M5/M6 launch control, which we can enable. I'd bet dollars to donuts we'll be able to enable it on that car as well, even with the encrypted processors.
