After 3 years of retirement, she hit the track one more time...
While testing the GTR at Gainesville last night, my folks stopped by with the E55 on the way to our Turkey Day. So after 1 fire and 40,000 with Hancook tires on the back at stock sizes, normal road pressures, and completely stock MINUS the Kleemann LSD- she ran 12.1 @ 117.88. Not bad for the old girl at all!
Back when we were stock, our best run ever was 12.33 @ 115 (https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...in-nothin.html). The 60' was only a 2.02 with me launching it a bit softer just to be gentle. The 4 year old stock run above had a 1.888 60' with a full on launch.
It was nice to see her out there again and to have a pretty good run after all this time.
For those that may be interested, the GTR ran 11.63 @ 120.88 without LC. Launch was identical to the E with manual shifting. The GTR has PS2's and a Cobb Accessport.

Thanks guys, nice to hear from everyone. Max, there is no easier car to launch than the E. Just don't load it up too much or you'll end up bogging. When it goes green, mash it and drive straight, nothing else to do.

Derek...you didn't happen to be in Orlando today? There was a black GTR that was next to me on I-4. We were in the usual Disney traffic and we both were stuck so we couldn't play. He did gun it a bit to get next to me but he got boxed in...I was ready to go because I down shifted to 3rd driving in traffic at about 55mph.
No go...I had to turn off onto my exit and he headed straight. The rear view of the GTR is okay but the front quarter and front view of the car is damn mean...ESPECIALLY in black. You my friend have a great looking car...in person and in motion that car is special.

Hey Derek
good to see the old beast still has some life.
Was expecting to see you here at Sebring this weekend. Quite a turnout for the Turkey Trot - around 50 cars in spec miata. Several of us dipped under Drago's track record in the test day.

LOL, you guys are a trip as usual.
Mr. Steyn, had the family in town so no Sebring for us. Couldn't miss FSU losing my 30 {sarcasm intended}!
Gid E Up is now a driver and an owner in the Grand Am series. That makes him a professional!
