Just installed; Code3 Performance Heater Exchange
If there is a list for people going above and beyond the call, Brandon and Aaron of code3 should certainly be on it.
I ordered my HE from Brandon somtime back and was on hold for a while. I checked in with Brandon occasionally and found out he was having trouble with getting his new super/duper Spearco cores in and finding fabricators worthy enough (could do what they say they would in a timely manner) to work on the units. Brandon managed to get the He unit in, and given I had been on hold, was kind enough to offer to drive over to install the unit...to my house in Glendale...from Santa Barbara. For all you non Californian's, it's nothing short of a 100mile drive
...unbelivable.
Brandon and Aaron arrived on Saturday at 10am. Brandon pulled out this new HE unit which looks fantastic and has welded seams worthy of the space shuttle. Also, the unit has an attachment area for an upcoming code3 oil cooler (how cool is that) to replace the smaller less efficient stock unit. The install was straight forward, everything fit fine and finished product looks great. I've linked a few pictures Brandon took.

Lastly, the performance. Altough i havn't done any IAT logging, i did manage to open her up to 120mph and the temp gauge was stuck at 80??? I have had the 90 degree fan mod done, but i never expected to see the engine run so cool. Nor did it run that cool prior to the stage one mod.
Bradon and Aaron are good guys, building good products...no i didn't get $$$ or a free oil cooler for this post, the service and product was excellent and i had to speak up.

I liked dealing with Brandon as well. I never took IATs before and after but was simply looking to increase cooling capacity and change out my stock pump to avoid any supercharger shut offs and high heat scenarios. The way I figure it, less thermal stress the better. Oh, and that big *** HE in the front looks sweet! Enjoy!

North east part of town, just past the college. I'm surprized i don't recognize your car, it would have caught my eye with the blacked out wheels.

Looks so great in there, wish I lived closer to CA. How difficult is removing the front bumpers on these cars? I remember taking the bumper of my e46 wasn't so much of a pain as putting it back on and getting it to sit flush again, never looked the same once I took it off once.

It took Brandon roughly four hours to get it done. However, we took the bumper off (I wanted it done that way). It may have been a much shorter project if he had tried to install without taking it off. Of what i saw, the toughest part was sliding the bumper off, a bit tricky. Otherwise, a relatively simple project. Brandon used mostly his own tools, a few items he had brought with him in addition to floor jack i supplied. Also, the realighnment of the bumper was not a problem, i think it's impossible to misrealign on the install. with that, i'll leave the rest of the details to Brandon.

If you have a good relationship with your MB Tech, he should be able to do it straight away. Do a search on the forum as a couple of members have posted how to get to the particular menu in STAR. One of the posts actually has some pics if memory serves me!
