Yeap... May or June is the planned release. Also there will be a E-class coupe, cause the CLK-class will not be make anymore. Not shure when the new AMGs will be released. I'm guessing 2010.

The CLK will be the E class coupe (even though its on a C class chasis).
The CL will be the S Class coupe.
Its just namimg. No real change to the line up of models.

Not what I've read:

In the press release for the new ConceptFASCINATION Mercedes-Benz states that its designers are working on a ‘future E-Class Coupe.’ This goes towards explaining why Mercedes would drop such an important nameplate - the main reason is that the car’s successor will be based on the same platform that will underpin the next-generation E-Class due next year.
.....
The decision to move the CLK to the E-Class platform will allow Mercedes to introduce a new entry-level coupe and convertible based on the C-Class, finally providing the carmaker with a direct competitor to BMW’s popular 3-series two-door models.

Guys, how come are you so sure that amg cars will come out a year later after stock once? May be they will do it the same thing as audi did. First they showed s5 and 6 months later they brought a5

Traditionally the AMG cars have followed anywhere from 9-12 months after their "standard" cousin models. The only exception I can think of was the CSL 55, If i"m not mistaken those were out in less than 3 months from the release of the CLS 500.

Though the picture of the coupe in your link looks to have a smaller wheel base than the current E class - looks much like the current CLK wheel base. I doubt they would have an E sedan + E coupe + CLS all on the same wheel base, particularly seeing that the CL isn't appreciably bigger. An E coupe (on E chassis) would/could canabalise the CL (esp if you could get an AMG version). Thats why I think the CLK will stay on the smaller wheel base.
Time will tell!

My apologies to the OP.
Looks like Benz DID move the premier of the W212 up to next month at North American Auto Show in Detroit.
Looks like 30 more days and the W211's will be sniff sniff......older models.

After looking at the official release photos from MB, I am struck by how much the new E looks so much like the late '90's Infinity Q from the B-piller back.
Yuck.

No problem. I'll still be enjoying the E63. The back of the new E is as ugly as it gets.. Hard to believe that a 2010 model will be out so early in 09.. Is any one at this point going to purchase an 09 E class? Redtag sale at Mercedes - brand new 09 E63 with pkg2 and pano for 74,500$

Yes, agree.

To me, this is remarkable....if it says it's an E Class, it should be based upon the E Class chassis....pretty odd imo.

Seems like your source had it right, at least if Car & Driver didn't botch it:
