How much hp/tq is usually lost when you go to a 19" or 20" tire?

im not sure with the trq. but i know that in regards to hp you lose about 10-20 hp to the wheels when you have the bigger wheels on.

HP is a function of TQ (on the dyno) and there are more factors than just going from 18s to 19s or 20s.

Consider the change in position (farther from the center) of the rim's weight. That adds leverage to that unsprung weight and means the car needs to put out more power for the same result. I've seen 10 - 20HP LOSS by keeping weight the same or even dropping it but going from a cast 18 to a forged 19.

Other things to consider are the final drive ratio. Is the setup you are comparing the same overall diameter as the OEM? If not, you are kind of messing with gearing and again the dyno will not be representative of what you have at the crank.

The car will be slower with taller wheels, PERIOD. It will show on the dyno, at the track, and in the streets.

20s on an E = 100% looks.

He can get you a stage 1 quick, since the tune is pretty refined. Add other mods or custom tuning and it adds a week, minimum more like 2.

Yes, I was born in Siberia.

VR550 takes 3 hrs. to install. ECU reflash, crank pulley, water pump pulley, new belt and a set of air filters.

As far as wheel size and weight, my rule of thumb is 1 RWHP loss per 1 lb. of increase in weight.

My thoughts exactly!

I've been thinking about this for the past few days and my conclusion is exactly that. No matter how much I tried to justify getting new Kleeman headers I couldn't. The price difference over the gains would be too minimal with smog adding on to minuses. Vadim has a great price with a direct bolt-on mod that will give you noticeable gains...great purchase IMO.

No, I don't mind them. I just didn't know VRP had them for the E55k. I thought the HEMs were all they had. I was planning to go long tube anyway (which is why am selling my HEMs) since I have a member here helping me but i would have been curious to see what the shorties do vs the HEMs. The HEMs gave me better top end (as we hoped). I just wonder where in the band the shorties help..

Vadim... do you have shortys for the CL55? Also, let me know when I could come in so we might be able to tweak the lowering in the front a bit more and do a little dyno run... thanks!

I think he has them for all the V8s, but dunno if he has a set in stock. Any other mods?
