Pulley Sheared...which one is it?

...happened today while I was on the highway...thought the supercharger belt just slipped off, but when I took off the cover I realized a pulley wheel had sheared off... since I'm not familiar with the engine, what pulley is that?

I thought, here we go again

Like Exotic-metal55 says it is an idler, you should get a new belt too.

I guess the idler pulley is a "wear" item. The car has 65k miles on it now...pushing 500whp...so somethings gotta give. Atleast the pulley sheared off harmlessly down to the engine tray....could've taken other stuff out. The car is still drivable...but will take the Lexus around 'til I can fix this.

idler pulley

Id be shocked if it was 400 bucks ... My Renntech supercharger on the SLK uses a v12 65 idler pulley. I've had two fail so far but its just a bit of a whining noise. So I've replaced them twice and I think they were only around 100 bucks each.

Also it was not part of a set and could be purchased solo.

It's a Renntech Stage 5. I picked this car up from evoviiiyou a couple of months ago.

Maybe you're thinking of the tensioner pulley...those are "cheap" The one I need to replace is a combination pulley (has serpentine and supercharger pulley, #4 in the diagram)

dammit...started to drive the Lexus... found out the "blower" motor isn't working for some reason. So basically on both of my cars, a "blower" isn't working...so no supercharger in one...and no heat in the other :-P

a little but maybe makes you feel better... maybe not..... but the other pulley to the right on top in your picture or #2 in the diagram 2 posts above (supercharger pulley? not the big one that everybody replaces on the bottom tho).... the bearings got totally fried on my cl55 about 6 months ago and replaced here's a little pic..... if i remember correctly, which i might not, was 500 or so at the stealership.... also had to replace my belt tensioner pulley too about 1 month ago.... remember that one was about 300 total after install..... oh nevermind won't make you feel better if ur damn blower is screwed up now..... sorry to hear that.....

No but I was wrong all the same. The idler puller on the v12 is a tiny little pulley and is not a combination pulley. Clearly the E55 idler pulley is much different.
