nobody has brought up the data monitoring on the heater/ac display. i don't remember how to activate it anymore now that i have a real data logger but iirc it was useful to monitor iat's, boost, and a few other things. i know there are a few old timers that have this info saved somewhere...

Bisco, like Aleks said, it is a "get stupid and take out a city block" mode if you aren't prepared for the car to get seriously crazy. He's no Michael Schumacher, and it definately shows when he puts his car in dyno mode.

Now, with some reservations, to enable dyno mode, get in the car and close the door. Put the key in the ignition and turn it to position 1, the SRS light should illuminate. Use the steering wheel buttons to move to the odometer screen on the cluster. Push the R(reset) button three times fast, you will hear a beep, and use the steering wheel arrow buttons to cycle through the menus until you arrive at the dyno test option. Plus+ button to engage. Proceed to start the car, put car in drive, proceed to violently destroy 2 tires, a light pole in the parking lot, and any kids' bicycles laying around. When the fun is done, shut car off, and it will reset itself. Assess the damage and call the insurance company and tell them you hit black ice.

Summer Mode: Aim the remote at the sensor on the drivers side door handle, press unlock once, release, then press and hold it for several seconds. All 4 windows and the sunroow will open. To close everything, press lock once, release, then hold the lock button down. If you release the button, all of the windows/sunroof will stop moving.

This is also handy if you have accidentally left a window down or the sunroof open and have already exited the car.

I'm not sure if this is standard or an option, but it works on my '04.

Note: You must aim the remote at the sensor on the door handle. It will NOT work if you are standing on the passenger side of the car.

Automatic start(my name): 99% of you already know this, but when starting the car you do not have to hold the key in the start position. Simply turn the key to on, then turn it to start for ~1 second and release. The engine will crank as long as it needs to and start. If you simply flick it to start you will be locked out and have to remove/insert the key and try it again. 1/2 - 1 second works quite well.

Instantaneous fuel consumption(kind of): While driving at a steady speed, use the steering wheel controls to navigate to the time/distance/fuel consumption menu. Press and hold the reset button until everything resets. Within a short time you will get a fairly accurate reading of your current consumption.

If anyone knows a trick for displaying real-time instead of average consumption I'd love to hear it!

I used to access that menu in my W208 CLK. Too bad MB didn't include diagnostics to show boost and IAT for the E55. I have used it to help diagnose a bad battery/alternator.

Summer mode will also turn on the vented seats.

Auto start thing will be handy next time I take out a loaner, I have keyless, never use key.

KEYLESS PEOPLE:
So you go to the stealership and they give you your car back running. You drive on home and you get there and you are confused trying to turn the car off and you don't know where your key is ...its in the ignition, haha. I have done this so many times, I am like "Who the hell would put it there" haha.

Trunk

Electric Trunk closer...

You can close the trunk from inside the car, by holding the button the other way. Sometimes to be a smart ***, when stopped at a light I will open and close ...and open and close....

Anyhow, its something I didn't figure out till much later.

Lightbulb Lock running

Leave the car running, lock it and go wherever and then come back to running car...

Turn car on (keyless or key - you can take the key if its keyless) extract the metal key that is used to manual lock the car, trunk and glove box, lock the door manual, it will lock all doors, go do your thing and come back.

I use this most often at really hot car shows in the summer, where I am showing the car, so when I come back, its cool and I can sit in there for a few minutes. I usually take this opportunity to offer models some cool air as well, it works wonders. After they are in the car, I ask them if they would like some hot air later... =-0

Wink Light fun

Ok, maybe I am just babbling BS at this point, but here is something I like to do that's not really hidden.

When I am behind someone I know, on a road I know. I take the lights from auto, one to the right, I then pull, I run the parking lights and the fog lights. It looks pretty cool, it's way sexier on a 63 than a 55, or maybe just 63 with premium 2. The lights I have are a really cool glowing blue, I haven't seen this on another car on the road... but I don't see too many E63's rollin around either..

This is a crappy shot, but its of the middle lights. I actually have a video of my running high speeds with the lights like I stated above, I need to get it from Mischief.tv

Cool I'm so bad.

Tell me, do you like my pretty tree? The girls like it, but it puts these little flower peddles all over my car =[ It especially sucks when its raining (like today) and they STICK to the car, UGH, RAWR!

Ok, so you can barley see the difference, or even the blue lights at all.

Here you can KINDA see what I am talking about, I really need to take a shot in the dark and I don't really have that good of a camera.

--------------------------------------------------

Ok, here is another TIP! If you like em young, store some treats under the seats. Yea... It works like a charm, they will eat it all up ...then just go buy more.
...OR You can put a microfiber towel here, so you can wipe down the inside of the car, or raid from the seat and stuff.

(Crude jokes...)

Make that THREE. I owned the car for a year before I found the changer by accident. No big deal as I NEVER play music in the car. In fact, the audio system is rarely on when I drive.

Ok, I admit... I have done this after picking up my car from valet.

I've also gone out to my car without my key before and couldn't open my car, lol.
