Try Summit or Jegs, usually under $150. I've installed quite a few line-lock kits only theyv'e been on GN's, F-body GM cars and my Supra, but never a Benz. Would be cool though.

just curious if the line lock causes any problems with esp or if you have to be in dyno mode to use it?

Cool - lots of interest. I figured there would be. It is a cool mod.

If you can leave the car for the day, it is no problem.

Thanks for the explanation and the support! I know you guys love it.

Nope. In fact, I will explain the way they work:

1. Pump up the brakes (on a MBZ, one or two firm presses on the pedal)
2. While holding the brake pedal down, activate the switch (a momentary switch)
3. Release the brake pedal

The solenoids on the front lines will hold the pressure in the caliper as long as you hold the switch. The rear brakes have no pressure and you are free to hit the throttle and do your burn-out. As you are ready, release the button and you will start to roll-out.

The complete kit is $395. This includes:
- Two High Quality Line Lock Solenoids that are compatible with the high pressure MBZ system
- Stainless Steel braided and Teflon coated brake lines
- 4 Adapters that allow this to be installed with the unique (Mercedes makes it as hard as possible) brake line fitting used by the factory
- Required length of wiring, with fuse holders and fuses
- Momentary switch with coiled cord that can be hidden in glove box (this can be upgraded to removable with a plug). This switch is the same that was used in the Abrams M1 tank as the fire button FYI - heavy duty!

I will take some pics this week.

Yes, for generic solenoids, that is about right. But the fittings, switch and lines that allow you to use this on your Benz add quite a bit unfortunately.

No and no.

I thought for whatever reason that the CLK BS was almsot as heavy as an E55. What sort of things have you done to lighten that car? Subtracting my body-weight (plus helmet, etc.) from my standard track weight yields 4,175 lbs on the scale - 389 lbs more than your BS. That is some weight savings. Then again - when we start talking about 3800 lbs being "light", it has to make you laugh.

From what I know... lighweight battery, Sparco DTM racing seats, titanium bolts, dymag wheels, etc etc. Although the roll cage does add weight. I don't know what else he has done but I'm sure he will chime in shortly

As Ahmad has already mentioned I have taken a lot of measures to lighten my car. The Dymag carbon fiber wheels only weigh about 15 pounds each, the Sparco carbon fiber seats weight only 13 pounds each. 16 pounds each including mounting brackets, the factory seats weighes about 75 pounds a piece. I run a Braille Auto carbon fiber battery (16 pounds). I have Evosport light weight 2-piece rear rotors and the cat delete saved me some more weight as did some aluminum and titanium screws and bolts. Roll bar added 72 pounds to the equation.

Anyone makes lightweight lug nuts for MBZs??

The Rays/Volk lightweight duraluminum lug nuts(0.8 oz each) worked well on my last car.

OK, let me make it easier.

1. right click and "save to computer"
2. open/play with Windows Media Player or better yet with the FREE Divx player

These vids are encoded with Divx in order to keep them small for the large screen resolution that they are (640x480).

If anyone has any problems after trying this, let me know.

thanks
Brad

Brad, I am still not having any luck. I have tried viewing on 3 different computers and am not having much luck. When I right click as you suggested it saves the image as a photo not an MPEG. Maybe download them to You Tube and post a link...thanks

Jim, if you're using Internet Explorer.....
when you right-mouse click on the video, choose "Save Target As...." not "Save Image As....." and this will save the avi file on to your computer. Then open up Windows Media Player and go to File --> Open and then choose the avi file you just downloaded. If you don't have the appropriate codecs, it'll let you know you need to download them, but all new Windows Media Players now come with an inclusive codecs pack that can play most avi files.
