Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera on me at the time. Though, I do have pics of the car post the incident. The outside (besides the charred windshield) is flawless. The interior (specifically the dash area), on the other hand, is a mess.
I will post the pics over the next few days.

This should be installed in your car.
It's a picture from one of MJ50's threads. (Hope you don't mind me posting it MJ50 )
I recently had MBenzNL install one for my car. It's a rest of the world factory option, not for US cars.
It fits in perfectly.

Sorry to hear about the fire....that is not fun! GOod luck with the insurance company and finding a new car.
On a different note, I would never attempt to extinguish a car fire unless it was in a race car, a collectible, was in a structure, or lives were in danger as a result of the fire. First and foremost reason would be that they can go up VERY quickly increasing your chances of injury (if you have an engine fire and open the hood it can get very nasty), secondly, I would never want a post fire rebuild of a car. It is very though to get rid of the interior smoke damage and repair all evidence of a fire unless it was VERY minor. Not to mention that once you discharge that fire extinguisher in the car, it is even more of a mess.

good point - save yourself and let it go. Cars can be replaced - people, not so much. And you are right - post rebuild? Not me, thanks. 1/2 the dealers can't get all the wiring hooked back up right if you have something done - you think a body shop is gonna? (and potentially isn't that what ignited in the first place - crappy dealer "repair?")
My insurance will provide replacement cost coverage with a same / similar NEW vehicle for up to 5 years. When we had a car trailer stolen, we took advantage of that - and had a brand new trailer - same Featherlite model in under 30 days - equipped just like our old one that was 2 years old for $50 deductible.
It's not expensive coverage and worth every penny. Usually only available if you buy new - but if you do / did - check it out with your agent.

Same thing happened to me a couple of years back in a S500. Mine actually caught on fire as I was about to enter the parking garage at the airport. Here is the thread I opened at that time. https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...-up-smoke.html
