Casual hunt for lightly used E55, opinions needed
Since I have a bit of spare cash laying around, I've started looking at the W211's. Please be gentle, I'm just starting my search.
There is an '03 CL600 up for sale for a mere $20k, although from reading the CL forum, the repair cost might be ominous, so for similar power, an '04-05 E55 might be a better choice (many of them seem to have the extended 100k mile warranty). There is one in the classifieds priced out at 30k for a low-mile '05. Would that be a fair price target?
I do have access to auctions via a friend, but of course those are going to be w/o warranty.
In this volatile market, the longer I wait, the cheaper they become, but of course I can end up waiting for infinity by that strategy.
Your thoughts?

I was looking for an E55 before I purchased my C55. It appears to me that $30k for a low mileage 05 E55 is a hell of a deal especially with the extended warranty!

04 - 06 e55 Wagon - looking for
'05 low to mid mileage e55's at a MBZ dealer CPO start at $42K - $49K. Small independent start at $37K and brokers even less. I would think in today's market, you can score a CPO 05 at the MBZ dealer for less then $40K. They are still holding out on price but can't much longer being the new year. Good Luck - of course my numbers are only for Wagons

Do it, Rick. I wish I would've just purchased the E55 when I got my E500. At the time, I was getting out of a Jaguar S-Type R (400hp blown) and I thought that with my daily commute, the E55 would just be overkill. I opted to save the cash, get my wife another Rolex and an E500. Since the day I got it, I've been spending fat cash to get the AMG look. Every time I get in, or behind the wheel, of a W211 E55K, I feel like a complete bafoon for not getting one.
With the market the way it is, you almost can't afford NOT to buy one now. If I wasn't so deep into mine, I would do it too. I dropped so much cash into mine, plus my R500 is worth about 30 grand less than I paid for it, I'm stuck with what I have.
When you do get one, I'll act happy for you but I'll secretly hate you. More so than I do now....

I'm still thinking of that CL600. 20 grand!
So it looks like an E is going to run me another 10k. A little bit more difficult to justify to the boss.

Time is on your side, consider shoping the Florida market this summer, on your trip.
BTW the CL sounds too good at $20K

Keep in mind that I don't think you can get an aftermarket warranty for branded titled cars. Not 100% sure on that though.

2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe
For the past couple of weeks I have been an Autotrader.com fiend. I've been looking at the prices on the 05-06 E55.
By my estimations I'll have one in my hands within 3-4 months. At least I hope
Are there any other sites as good as www.autotrader.com for car shopping ?
Thanx for the help gang.

That's a great idea to shop Fla, although that means a restless 6 month wait. Maybe the CLS market will tank enough by then.
Benz-O, I feel the same way. 20k is almost a no-lose.
