Hi everyone new to this forum just bought a 2003 E55 on new years day. it has a Renntech pulley and ECU and some of those green air filters not sure of the brand but any ways , the car is amazingly fast with endless power but no sound at all. I took the car to a friends shop and put it on a lift and was looking at the full exhaust system. I was wondering if I took it to a shop and had the resonators cut out and a straight pipe welded in and the secondary cats cut and a X-pipe put it what would happen? would it void the warranty? would any lights come on? there are not any O2 senors for the secondary cats right? how would it sounds and would there be a power difference? thanks for the help
First, welcome!!! Congrats on the E55!!
2nd, search out Vadim from VRP, he has a great set up for X-Pipes and knows his *****... what I have heard / read, the X-Pipe will give you more volume at top end but no hp gains.... the 2ndary cats are removed and the CEL will not go off.
I recommend that you go with headers first since you already have a Pulley and ECU, Kleemann makes a great set and you can talk to Cory (Kleemann guy on here) great guy!!! The headers will give you a good deal more “throat” and increased performance!! Win-Win situation.
Both these guys are 100%!

but to get mroe out of it , you might need a re-tune
and i am to aware that cutting second cats does not give a cel. That where they tell you to put the sensor from the primary cat if you want to cut it...behind the secondary cats. This can stil throw a cel though as seen in the kleeman set ups apprently
the cel from the o2 sensor can be turned off through ecu tuning by the way!

If you want more sound, some members gut their factory muffler and it sounds MEAN!
Check out this thread...

You should dive a little more into ME 2.8 before you start to make claims with such conviction

4 wheeled car.
Before this get's stupid like the long tube header thread...
Yes you would void the warranty in the eyes of MBUSA.
Removing the secondary cats will most likely cause the CEL to come on.Sound will go up
you will probably see an increase of 4 or 5 hp
Look for the X-pipe thread and the long tube header thread (Only read the first two pages of the header thread it get's stupid after that)

My advice is use the search button and you'll see who belongs in the forum and who belongs in the Colosseum.
