E55 AMG
gruppe M intake and other mods

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. Just wanted to share some of the mods I did on my '05 E55.
Just recently put in the Gruppe M carbon kevlar intake and I have to say it's amazing.
Other mods:
Evosport headers
evosport pulley
custom exhaust with cats removed
E63 body kit
LED
AMG black series steering wheel (took 3 days to install)
19" AMG

Coming soon this month will be full throttle body and Quaife LSD.
Will be going for a dyno run soon and i'll update you on the results.

Nice!! We were always curious how the Gruppe connects to the front. Anyway you can snap another pic of how they connect to the front of the car. We used to see pics of Gruppes that suck hot engine bay air and that would be bad BAD on our cars.

Thanks in advance!

Nice setup! That Gruppe setup looks sweet. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that cost?

I imported it directly from Japan, including shipping it was about US$5k. A bit pricey, but their products have never disappointed me. Most of my friends use gruppe M for their ferraris, and they sound so much better.

Jakpro1, I'll take some pics later cuz im in the office right now hehehe. But installing was very easy. But the guys at the shop did have a difficult time trying to put the engine cover back on so just didn't put it back on...makes the engine look messy

Just looking at the pic again. Looks like the intake opens up right here.

Is there a piece missing and the intake is sucking engine bay air??

here are some pics i just took of the front and the steering wheel.
Steering wheel was quite pricey but I didn't like the original.

[/QUOTE]

The intake doesnt suck engine bay air. It goes all the way to the front, and the scoops are right behind the grill and air from outside it fed directly to the intake.

cls 55 or FIAT Coupe T20v-6speed
was this your last mod .. and therefore can you say the difference after its install ?
if you already had free flowing filters before, it is intersting to know what difference if any, letting aside a possible different intake sound

can't get to what extent the engine needs more air even after simple K&N replacement

Awesome intake! Thanks for the pics.

Guess I am still traumatized by the guy who posted a pic of the early models that had the filter cones poking right into the engine bay. I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Yo Jakpro. I think you are thinkin of a difference cf intake. Gruppe M has always offered this intake as it is shown. The one you are thinkin about is prolly the ice-tuning cf intake. Those had the cone filters just sitting in the engine bay. Heat shields were suppose to be made for it but I don't remember seeying a pic of it...

I think this is the one you are thinking about???

If I was totally wrong, I apologize and disregard this post...

to tell you the truth I run this setup with out the heat shields because there is not difference with or without them. With the -10 mod the fan is almost always on and it constantly circulates cool air into the engine bay. I personally dont think that there is alot of hot air that is being pulled into the intake...

You should try putting a therm in that engine bay on a warm day Alek. You'd be stunned.

I have it on my car. It kicks on the radiator fan -10 Celsius sooner then stock. Keeps the car cooler. Btw it was nice meeting you today. Car looks great in person!
