I'd also like to know if this set up has the same concept as the python tubes with the wider diameter pipes to the intake?
Sorry, missed yours.

No, just more air in = more power.

Any difference in engine note?
Yes, you can hear the blower better

vadim,

were you able to increase the size of the pass next to the radiator or did you just connect to it? the reason i ask is that i know it's necked down at that point (especially on the driver's side) and would assume this is going to reduce overall effective diameter of the intake pipes.

the effective size of the intake is always the smallest cross section.

I think it would be great if all the pipe work could be made in black plastic it would keep the standed look

Plus it would make it cheaper.

Then of course you will get someone claiming that will make the intake charge hotter (It won't the air isn't inside of it long enough to raise the temp appreciably)

Negative, batman. While plastic parts are "cheaper" per se - to manufacture them requires expensive molds (in most cases, manufacturing techniques vary). When making large quantities the mold prices can be spread over the price of the parts, but for low volume jobs like these how are you going to recover the price of $100,000 worth of molds? The molds for a part this long would be crazy expensive. There are other methods of manufacturing plastic that could be cheaper, but that's a whole different discussion.

Polish 'em up, or have them coated black. They'll look just fine. Under $1k for these puppies I don't think is too crazy, especially if they make good power. I will likely be getting one of these for my 55.

The opening on one side is roughly 3'', the other is just under 2.75''.

I am looking at other pssibilities of routing the air as well.

Thanks Marcus - Precisely. Plastic is cheap when it is in huge quantities.

in small quantities, plastic is expensive! i recently priced different plastics for some custom intake mods and the damned stuff is just as expensive and sometimes more so than aluminum...wtf!!!

The looks of the original carbon fiber airbox it is a lot better than this one, and for an extra 2-4hp in a 400+ WHP car isnt going to make any diference.
In a little Honda/Acura this would mean a lot... and the looks over perfomance isnt very imporant, but com'on guys...in our Benz looks and finishes are extremely imporant... at least in mine.
If Im changing to SLR coolers (something that I realy doubt) this would problably be the air intake system that I would use.

But for now, Im still going with the idea of the carbon fiber airbox and phyton tubes...

which reminds me, Victor:... sent you an email yesterday regarding an order of the carbon fiber airbox, with phyton tubes... still waiting for your answer

Can you post a link or a phone to the supplier where you get your stainless piping from? The cheapest ss 45 deg. elbows that I can find are $46 each.

K&Ns are about $40 each. That leaves $70 for 8 to 10 stainless steel 45 deg. elbows, some straight section and the silicone couplings. You are saying that these parts are less than $5 each

Not to mention welding. Thats free right.

dont know, but why would you need stainless?
why would he use stainless here when vrp isnt going to use it on the exhaust ?

Original post leads me to believe that Vadim will be using T304 ss.
If you don't use stainless the pipe has to be coated/painted on the inside. Surface rust will form on the inside of the pipes, especially where the welds are.

Choosing stainless over mild steel is not just about cost.

On the exhaust side, there is weight and heat dissipation to deal with.

If you have pipe that you are going to coat inside and outside with a 2200F thermal coating, what advantage does stainless provide?
