Congratulations on a great car. Do you have any idea how much you will have to pay to have the car certified for Canada? I've heard different numbers and I believe it depends on what year the E55 is as to cost.

thanks for all the comments on the 43, it was my dream car, and i would have another if they could be imported from the U.S.
I have been told that for any of the w211 e55 its in the range of 3500-4200 at a mercedes dealership, and the 6.1% duty and 5% GST(AB), gas guzzler tax, and inspection fees. I imported an 05 Subaru sti last fall and it was easy, hopefully this will be just as easy. If your planning on importing one and would like more detailed break down i could email you everything you need.

C43....save yourself 3-5000 bucks and don't bother with doing the compliance at the dealer. If you don't need warranty, Mercedes-Benz Canada no longer requires you to do it. Since your car is 2003, your warranty will have expired already anyways.
You will need to do federal & provincial inspections, and i think you will need your daytime running lights hooked up, but don't let the dealer talk you into a pricy compliance. Use the money to pay for future repairs.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, PM me & i'll give you my number.

Hey Busta as far as i know all i need to do is have the instrument cluster changed out which in turn controls the daytime running lights which they tell me is 3500-4200 dollars and it has to be done at a dealership. This is a quote from there website "Q. Can a Mercedes-Benz dealer in the US or an independent garage in Canada perform the safety certification work?
A. No. Safety certification work can only be performed at an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer in Canada." and i save alot of money with the bumper harmonization laws of this summer.
If this is different than anything you know i would love to know to save some extra money.
Thanks in advance,
Johnny

This is new information. If you had brought your car up to Canada 6 months ago, you would have to change cluster, bumper reinforcements, etc. as per Mercedes-Benz Canada's COMPLIANCE regulations.
Whether your car is a 2001 or a 2008, you are no longer required to do a "COMPLIANCE" through a Mercedes-Benz dealership, IF YOU DO NOT WANT WARRANTY. Your car is a 2003 and is already out of warranty, so COMPLIANCE for you is a waste of money.
You will need to do a federal inspection as well as a provincial inspection, NEITHER of which need to be done at an MB dealer. Canadian Tire does provincial inspections.
If you feel you still want to change your guage cluster, etc, go right ahead. I am sure Weber Motors or David Morris FC will gladly take your money.
Like i said, PM me and i will give you my number, if you have any questions.
Believe it or not, some salesmen/dealerships are actually honest and easy to deal with.

The cluster does not control the daytime running lights, FYI. The price of any MB cluster (retail) is in the range of $1100-$1500.

Thank you for the offer but i have planned to drive back with my dad who has a 97 911 Targa down in phoenix, and were planning on making a road trip out of it. I used to work in a VW repair shop and would be able to switch out the gauge cluster and run the DRL's no problem.
Again thank you for the offer,
Johnny

.....you don't need a new cluster, Johnny.
