Tilt steering issues?
Nothing on a search..............'05 E55 - telescopic works fine, but the tilt feature isn't working. I can hear a motor(?) run when I engage but wheel doesn't move. Anyone else have this happen? TIA

Yep. Had it fixed under warranty. Apparently sometimes the gears strip out on the tilt motor.

Ha. Same exact thing happened to mine this morning, and this post came up under a search.. Is this a dealer visit? Or is there a quick fix? Thanks

wishbone
The wishbone in the sterring needs to be replaced. It is to thin and has had recalls on it.

I had the same thing happen on my '05 E320 2 days ago. Does anyone have information on the recall that jack1560 mentioned? I'm wondering if the repair will be covered even though my warranty has expired. Is this something that has to be fixed by the dealer, or is it a DIY project?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The same thing happened to my '05 C 55 today and warranty just expired a couple of months ago. Anybody had success with hassling the recall (if any)?
Thanks

The dealer told me the wishbone in the sterring is not up to what it should be and they have had many problems with it. My sl55 is in the shop now for it and it is being covered under my extended service contract. I would hassle the dealer and remind them that many of the cars have had this problem
