'04 vs '06 suspension comparison....
After driving 2 certified '04 E55's back to back,i decided to have my certified 06 with 18K miles delivered to me with out a test drive...
Right off the bat,i figured out the '04 E55 had much tighter steering feel...Over all,i think i would prefer 04 over my 06....
So is there any one else who agrees with me in my comparison here...

'06 E55, '05 SLK55, a few others
No. If anything, the '06 should have a better feel, it has the improved steering rack over an '04, although when shopping, I drove an '04 before I bought my car and I couldn't tell any difference in just short test drives.

Mb did change the steering rack in 05 models.
I can't comment on the difference as I have not driven a newer 211.

the 2006 car is worlds better and pretty similar to the E63.
You made the wise decision.

I have an 05 and have driven a 04 over some miles to compare. the 05 does has a better and tighter suspension. not sure why you are seeing the reverse in your case.

I disagree, as I own a 04 and just drove bassn_07's 06 on the way down to Famoso and to me it feels that my steering is tighter.

that's odd. The 2005+ cars got the upgrades from the CLS to make the steering and suspension tighter...and i def feel the upgrade when i drive mine versus the 04

The difference is probbally ragged out 06 feels looser then a well taken care of 04. But in reality both driven back to back and taken care of the same the 06 should feel tighter.

i think the only difference was the steering rack. I am not sure that anything changed in the suspension.

+1, the only difference is the rack itself. The only way that you can really compare the two are to drive a 04 with its stock wheels and tires and then do the same with an 05. I drove str8ridin's car and the steering feels quicker than in an 04. I have also driven an E55 wagon and the steering in it felt quicker as well. just my .55
