Speeding in western Pennsylvania ??
comrades: I am en route to the Steelers game in Pittsburgh this weekend (coming traveling north, northwest, from the south, south east, Richmond/DC area), and wondered if anyone has experience with PA State police, or speed traps, special observations, V1 illegal, etc.?
I appreciate any insight. I am itching to "open her up, a bit" on this road trip.

radar detectors are legal. v1 should help you out alot. there will be troopers hiding occasionally.......but pa is not flooded with them like some other states per say NJ, VA or MD

Hi there
I just went on Wednesday from DC to Pittsburgh for NHL game. To see those penguins eat shizl from the Capitals, sorry if I offend anyone by that
Be careful on 95 in Northern Virginia, a lot of cops especially with inauguration events, probably traffic will be horrible. I-270 is cop paradise, especially in left lane towards Frederick. On 70 towards breezewood it was ok, only one speed trap near exit 26 in Maryland. On Wednesday Penn state police had one speed trap, about 10 miles before exit to 7 springs, a huge sign on Penn turnpike.
Good luck with your trip and go Ravens!

Most PA troopers use instant on radar guns. VERY few lasers except on the PA turnpike. On 79N they tend to set near the WV boarder, and once you'r about ten miles in, you have a nice 10 mile strecth where I open her up. Once past Washington PA, they set in the Middle at the rest area. Near Pittsburgh, about 5 miules out, there are MANY radar traffic guns, that are used for Traffic updates ONLY, not cops.
Oh yeah on the Turnpike, 76 BE careful, they are EVERYWHERE my friend, and as the man above said, if you are traveling over 20 miles above the posted speed limit, you WILL get a ticket.
See yeah
