Well, I'm bummed.

I guess I'm going to go out to a strip on my own as I want at least one more crack at the 11's before the cold air is gone.

If we can get enough people, I can still do a rental on Sunday, February the 15th or even Saturday evening on the 14th.....

If you want to try Famoso's open night test n tune, I can meet you there on Sundays but expect to make only 2 to 3 runs in 7 hours (assuming nobody breaks down).

Also, you're welcomed to join us at Sacramento if you want to give it a try....

I would do Sacramento if I had a trailer, but I don't. I thought about picking one up, but I would use it once and then what?

I'm down for Saturday or Sunday whenever, 14th doesn't bother me. Who else is though? Might be tough getting the necessary amoung of people. Maybe another poll?

2 to 3 runs in seven hours is ridiculous, F that.

You could rent a trailer for 50-70 dollars. That will be my plan the next time I head to LA for some mods.

Joseph, like I said, I ran around 12.19 @ 117.2 mph at Famoso,, then went down to Sacramento and ran 11.99 @ 117.54 mph. Its 632ft vs 32 ft elevation. Your best chance at running better traps, and ET will be at Sacramento. It would be awesome if you could go up there.

Is anyone else going up to Sacramento this weekend??
If the forecast doesn't get any worse, there could be records broken.

It's really not that bad of a drive. I leave home around 5am, get there before 11am. Run at 12pm-4pm. Eat dinner there, and get back home in Ventura County before midnight, no problem.

Do you know how and where to rent a trailer at a good deal?

One of my tenants rented a Uhaul trailer and towed her Lotus from Missouri with her Xterra. And the good thing about trailers is I don't believe they charge by the mile.

The drive doesn't bother me, its the miles on the new car. Which is why I would rather tow it, plus then it could already be running the drag tires/wheels.

Just don't tell them that you are towing an E-Class the weight is too high.

Thats true. If you do need to change the wheels at the track, it is really a breeze with a Snap On rechargeable impact wrench. They are a little of $500, but are worth it. If you go this weekend and want me to help zip your wheels on/off there just let me know.

Yeah, I don't know what the weight rating is, but one thing for sure is the E-Class weighs twice as much as her Lotus!

Conditions are getting even better for Sacramento this weekend. Around 54F at 1pm. 59F high. 0% chance of rain. 4mph tail wind.

The conditions were not that great, (DA was 400 instead of -400 when I made my record run. It could have been so much better, but I have to be thankful for the results I did get. I had high aspirations, as I had been getting runs close to 119 mph on my Vbox testing with the turbomelter map. Unfortunately at the track, I had problems holding boost with the turbomelter and the car would take forever to recover. Luckily I had the standard JB3 1.2 in my tool kit. After installing the JB3 1.2, I made my 11.829 using the standard map #7 race map. So although I have always achieved .75-1.5mph faster with the turbomelter, the 11.829 was still a good solid run given the conditions. This run was also done without getting a chance to lower the tires below 21psi.
Unlike the previous record run that was made a –483 DA, mine was done at 400ft ABOVE sea level. There is absolutely no doubt it would be over 118 mph had it been done in the same conditions of a –483ft DA.
I posted some Vbox runs of over 95mph in the 1/8 mile just the other week. I didn’t post the 119mph traps, because I wanted it to be a nice surprise for everyone when I went to the track. Previously I said that my sedan would have been faster than the record holder if I had my seats out too. My tune only sedan was only .06 mph slower than the record run. But people kept on saying "run what you brung". By my calculations, my old sedan would have easily been the trap mph record holder without seats (a true 119 mph potential with that car). The coupe was a little harder, but still ran decently for the conditions. But still, if I didn’t have a shot of breaking the record, I wouldn’t have bothered to make the 800 mile trip to Sacramento. For those of you that know me, my calculations, predictions are always pretty darn accurate. I will always back up my claims and projections. I just didn’t think the record could be broken with a standard customer map.
Also, a word on the turbomelter map. It is not some exotic uncivilized map. As a matter of fact, I had been driving around on it for most of the week. Those videos of me driving around roasting my tires on a 30mph roll were all done on 91 octane (not recommended). Out of curiosity, I had my codes read, no knock codes or anything were present. I have never even heard any audible knocking with it. Secondly, as you can see from my picture, I drove the first 150 miles of my trip averaging 27mph, with most of my cruising speeds above 80mph. This is the true beauty of our cars. Believe it or not, I actually look forward to going on a long road trip and seeing new places, new people. No matter what kind of tune you have, the 335I is phenomenal. It’s fast enough to hold its own with some pretty impressive competition. Just like my other trip to Sacramento, there were some fully modded 135i/335I V3 cars there to run on the same day, same track. It was fun watching their runs, and also knowing they are a couple cars behind you watching your runs. So a little added excitement! So it was good seeing and talking to the others again. If anything, it was great picnic weather! For those of you that were making fun of mmmotornutz’s run last time at Sacramento, we were planning on him meeting me up there, putting my DRs on his car and letting me drive his 6M to show everyone what his car is really capable of. Unfortunately he had some family commitments to attend to.
I will be the first to admit that with the implementation of meth injection, bigger turbos, etc, my record will be short lived. I do believe that for my minimal modifications, my run will be impressive for what it is nonetheless.

It's funny, I actually be in LA Thursday and Friday and hit Sacramento up on Saturday....Busy 3 days. Maybe we could all hook up on one of the days I'm down.

Mo, are you still in for the 7th?

I may have a few new suprises by this weekend...maybe.

Hey, quite a bit of people are going to the Feb 21-22nd Test and tune at Famoso. Starts early in the a.m, so temps should be decent. Probably crowded, but cheap to get into. Terry is going, so I will probably run there also. Will be fun beating up on some unsuspecting Mustangs/GTOs, etc.

Hi Rick..... Famoso's open test n tunes in February are actually two events: One is going to be on Saturday and Sunday the 21st and 22nd and the other will be on the 28th and March 1st. Both lanes will be open and the fee is only $50 dollars.

However, because this is the first open test n tune event of the season, it will be crowded. Blake told me, they will start taking in cars on Friday night, as people will actually park their RVs in the parking lot and many will sleep at the gates So basically, expect to make 3 runs or so in 7 hours (assuming nobody breaks down). It's always better to attend the Sunday session, as it's traditionally less crowded because people tend to leave early on Sundays (3:00 to 4:00 p.m.) so that they can make it back home at a decent time. This works very good to our advantage

Rick, let me know if you're going to the open test n tune sessions, maybe I can meet you there
