I was there at around 11am and the track didn't open til 12. So I was standing there for 1 hour watching them prep. It looked like they were resurfacing about 10 feet of the left lane and were using a blower to get rid of the residual water.
I didn't see them throw down any VHT though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I've only been to Sac and with a cooler track I was hitting 1.96 & 1.97 enroute to 12.2 and this time around I could not break 2.0 but I still managed 12.3. So I guess if I could have hooked like I did in the past I "could" have run high 11's. My best 60' yesterday was 2.01. That's .05 slower than my best 60'. I know the car is capable of 11's stock but like Jesse said until then it's just a low 12 second car.

Alan, I think you're mixing up our last event at Famoso as a regular high DA day. Although the DA was high that day, everyone still beat their personal best. But what I want to clarify is this: in December, January, and February, Famoso usually has a DA very similar to Sacramento (-400 to +500 ft) but with much better traction. NHRA still runs full dragsters there (4 to 5 seconds at 250+ mph cars). However, we just happen to hit a heat wave on our last event (It was 73 F and parts of LA were actually 87 F....... it's hard to believe it got this hot in freakin January
).
Sacramento is a good track, but traction seems to be a hit or miss..... sometimes it's decent and sometimes it's not
The stock E55 (Hammer Down) could not crack 2.0 due to traction. SLK55R had to start in 2nd gear to get 11s
do you know how much slower second gear starts are? People using Mickey Thomsons don't have as big of a problem with traction as others, but not many running these tires ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

With good traction, you should be able to hit 1.7 60' time easily..... I've hit 1.8 on street tires in my 63 with much less torque. I think Mikey, enzom, and a couple of others are able to pull 1.7 60' time on street tires with good track prep. If you can pull a 1.7 60', you should be in the 11.80 to 11.90 range comfortably. BallzyS55 - Did you run your 1.79 on DR's or street tires? What's your best 60' time to date? The reason why I'm asking is that you mentioned that traction wasn't that great but your 60' time seemed decent with DR's and great if they were on street tires. Glad you had a great time and we will be doing this again soon..

I ran on Nittos 555 streets tires, my best 60' was 1.790, then I ran a bunch of 1.8s, and a 1.795, but I was still loosing a little bit of traction, spining, at the gate, a few times, and that 1.790 was my best 60' ever. My problem with infineon is that test and tunes are on Weds. There is 0 chance of me making a weds meet. The 2nd issue is that they are significantly more strict on safety equipment etc. My understanding is that if you run under 12 you need a racing jacket as well.
I'm really curious now how Sac would run if we did do a private rental with significant prep.

The question is really how much does the vht cost?
We don't need to do a private rental like you said. There weren't that many cars at all there.
The decision would really be do we pay for VHT for both lanes? Since we aren't doing private rental it might make sense to just splurge a bit and do both.

We will need to pay extra for VHT, but given that Sacramento is not busy at all, there is no need to pay for a private rental. Additional VHT + prep + ambulance came out to be just under $2k. We can just make arrangements with the track officials in advance to get additional prep on one of the open test n tune nights and pay extra for it. If we can get 20 guys to participate, then it'd only cost us $100 each + $50 for cover charge and viola..... we get a nicely prep track at good DA ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

If we ended up going on a Test-N-Tune day why would we need to pay extra for the ambulance, shouldn't that already be included in the $50 race fee?

Either way, it is not really that expensive..... if they prep the track really good, it'd be worth the extra money spent IMO.

I'm warming to the Sacremento idea and seems we have gotten some cold temps lately.
Maybe we can organize a trailer rental or something of that sort to make it possible for some of the others in SoCal to come up?

Keep knocking it Mike but when I get into the low 11's I want my props...
. Sacramento is still one of fastest tracks in Cali besides infineon.
Mo, work on getting that Infineon track day and I bet many will come.
