Sacramento Raceway February 7th?
Depending on weather I'm planning on hitting Sacramento Raceway for the 3rd time trying to beat my cars best time. The weather is looking pretty good and it should have negative DA's for most of the day. The last 2 times I went I thought traction was OK on the 1st and good the second time around. The first time I went I got in the 11.7's and the second time 11.5's, both on street tires. Remember, I'm a total rookie just learning the sport and I was able to pull off a few good times. Just think what you seasoned veterans could do . Some say it's a hit or miss on traction, if it's a hit...some of you boys will own new records . Sal, your car does 10's if traction is on. I would say it's worth the gamble to kill record times...don't you?

Hope you could make it Sal. Just seeing the faces on the spectators when they hear and see your car hit high 10's.
Where are you Mo? I'm hoping you could make it also, it wouldn't be complete unless you went. Maybe Rocket and Hammer down will also make it. I'm sure Hotrod will be there with his BMW. Nick (Blueknight), I'm sure he'll join in. E500 (Andrew) is also a loyal enthusiast. This could be a minnie meat if a few of you just commit and join in . The last 2 times I went there must of been less then 20 cars. I would start a list but I would hate for my name to be the only one...embarrassing!

Alright! Hammer Down is in and all we need to do now is hope for good weather that weekend. Accuweather calls out for chance of rain but that's a long ways away. I'm surprised no one else has chimed in, like Blueknight, Rocket, Hotrod, and possibly Mo.

By the way, looks like West Coast Extreme 2 will take place at Famoso around the 20th.

I might have to pass on WCE, Friday nights are very tough for me...fricken meetings at work sometimes strap me down from leaving early on Friday's .

time meeting?
Anyone in the bay area want to caravan up? I'll be with a few coworkers (2 STIs).
Also what time does the track open?
Btw anyone bringing a tire inflater?

I believe the track opens at 10:00 and racing starts from 12 - 4.
If you're interested there's a Shell within a few miles that sells 100+ octane for $7.50 a gallon.... I'll be running the good stuff, it can't hurt.

I'm just over the Altamont, what time do you think you guys will roll out that way? I would like to get there in time to let my car cool down from the drive. The gates open at 10 so I wouldn't mind getting there around 11am.

sure
I'm around palo alto ... so let me know where to meet you guys.
I'm already running sunoco 100.
BTW the drag radials seem to fit fine. I raise the rear to a 4pad and 0 rubbing so far. Now I"m curious if I can fit the 265/40 18 back there.

I'm thinking of making it out saturday. Can someone give me some more details about how it all works, etc.? I've never been to a drag strip at all. Do I need to bring a helmet with me? How many runs will one typically get in at one of these events?

how it works
2. you need a helmet if you run under 12.5? either that or 12 I forgot.
3. Depends on your car ... there usually aren't a lot of cars there so you can get in a lot of runs. But from what I've seen, the E55s usually try and let the car cool down inbetween runs due to heat soak.

You will need a helmet if you run 13.99 seconds or faster. You'll be able to get as many runs as you want since not a lot of people go to Sacramento Raceway anymore. Usually, we let let the car cool down for 30 to 40 minutes before runs, but since it won't be too hot anyways, you'll be able to make a few runs back to back without a huge loss in performance.
