Need Serious Answer.... RE: 2007 Pricing
My question becomes- with the new model coming out relatively soon, how much are the 2007s (ONLY) predicted to drop?
When-about will this loss of value occur?
Also, how much will this cause my 55 to drop (selling to a friend)?
I assume that as the E63 I'm buying becomes cheaper (maybe 40k when new model hits floors??) .... that my current E55 will be worth less, I will be forced to sell for less, and any change will negate itself, since we are talking about (basically) the same car....
Now if I currently had a car that held value better and was not an AMG or Mercedes at all, maybe it would be more beneficial to wait for new body style and save more coin.....
But it doesn't matter I love my AMGs so much and you only live once!!
Honest opinions please - What would you guys do??
With all the new tech that's going into the 212, i'd wait at least a year or 2 into the model before buying the new one. Let MB get the kinks worked out.
The 07 E is one of the most reliable cars MB has put out in a long time.
I'm still not sold on the new body E...it's gonna take me some time, but eventually, it will grow on all of us.
You think the Naturally Aspirated motor, w less actual moving parts, but high compression/lightweight pistons/cams/valves/etc generally having more stress on them (theoretically also more wear) more often, even in "normal driving conditions" ---
is more reliable in the long run, possibly less expensive to repair, and less things to go wrong than a.......
supercharged 55k motor, which typically doesn't see as much stress on a constant basis on block's internals, but definitely has more moving/working parts to go wrong (supercharger itself, heat exchanger, pump, etc) ???
Or is it too early to tell, being as the 63s don't have that much mileage yet?
If a 55 supercharger failed out of warranty, that would be a very costly repair....
I know AMG knows their stuff well and develops extensively-- but by the same token, if a 63 throws a rod because of high compression out of warranty, that would be costly as well......
Thanks!
I was looking at e63 pricing and it seems it's still hovering in the mid 50's and for my budget that's a bit more than I want to pay.
however given that you are stuck with a e55, unless you have another car to drive, I would sell the e55 first since as you pointed out the longer you hold onto that car, the harder it will be to sell and values will drop for sure.
Just remember cash is king and it's aways easier to buy than sell. If the purchase of one is not dependent on the other then keep the e55, otherwise sell it NOW. Otherwise when a nice e63 comes around you can't pull the trigger so you're going to miss out anyways.
