Oh! The biggest disappointment of the car show had to be the Caddilac CTS-V. The interior of that thing is cheap junk. It may look nice in pictures but in person it is the same old shinny cheap plastic of all GM cars. If anyone trades their 55's or 63's for a few extra HP I think you are crazy.

Remember Vic, we dont drive "all out" all the time. Things like steering feel and exhaust sound really make a big part of driver enjoyment.

What were you impressions of that aspect of it? Particularly the exhaust note. The M6's V10 at full song is really hard to beat...

the having it in R modes will make the car shift faster and not intervene as much if you started to spin...... were you in manual shifting mode when doing rolling speed starts?

It has good dig "get up and go" but was slighly deficient IMHO at higher rolling speeds ie mashing it at 65mph and running to 120mph. The car only had 5 miles on it when I drove it and I didnt have the R buttons on at first. I have no idea what all those things were and the GM wasnt sure either. The handling was superb- planted at all speeds and I even pressed it in high speed bank turns and had no fear. The brake feel was super tight, better than TT in fact from initial impressions. Ill have to drive it again since the first time there is an adrenaline effect.

Honestly i dont see the big deal in these cars. I like the design though but not feeling the fact they are automatic.

I gotta admit, I really didnt notice the exhaust note that much- I was more focused on the power and handling; items that have made me interested in this car. I can fix the exhaust with a simple bolt on I guess. And while you are 100% right that we dont drive all out, I seem to have a problem speeding and pressing my cars. This is why I have an attorney on retainer I probably push my cars harder than most and this is purely my opinion. There isnt a day where I dont hit the 160 mph benchmark. Its partially due to the M6 which requires higher RPM's to get the most out of the car. The exhaust doesnt help, and you are right its hard to beat, because its such a race sound it almost forces you to speed. The steering feel was great in the GT-R, I forgot to mention that.

I was in the "A" mode when I started and on the freeway I went to manual to see how the down shifts were but this without the R buttons on. I also did rollers in "A" mode (60-120) without the R buttons on. Are the "R" buttons similar to my Sport button in the 997TT? The Sport button makes a huge difference in the Turbo.

the problem with A mode when hammering it on the highway is that the car usually won't automatically downshift into the gear that will provide the most power, especially if you don't have the tranny in R mode..

the transmission can't skip gears (it can't go directly from 6th to 3rd), so it usually just bumps down one gear....

when I first got the car, I couldn't figure out why the car felt weak in A mode on the highway, but going into M mode, and downshifting a few gears to the proper gear makes a big difference....

I see said the blind man. Ill have to take it out again for another spin. You are trapping mid 120's with just the Cobb??

yea, 122 - 126.88 MPH, depending on the track and weather with just the generic cobb tune, I'm going to go for the custom tune, should add another 25HP or so from what I've seen others get so far...

I would guess in a few months a tune alone would be able to add around 100HP to the stock car.... the tuners are constantly updating...

Don't worry............it's not like I'm going to quote you on this after you take out a bus full of nuns heading to an orphanage to help dying children.

I must say......... I really do admire the GTR. If you can do a clean and reasonable deal, then I would consider it. I doubt it would be a better ride than your M6 but it would be a nice change. Judging from your other cars, I'm sure you would make it a stunner.

So......my vote is yes, besides I have considerable Japanese hate material........... so get it done.

Nissan just released a voluntary update to the GT-R, it tones down the full launch control by lowering the launch RPM. BUT, it also greatly improves the ability to launch from a dead stop without using launch control...

before this update, the only way to launch without launch control, was to stab the throttle off idle at 750 RPM... now, the computer will allow you to powerbrake the car to 3k RPM and go from there.... I have been running 11.2 with 1.9x 60' times starting from idle, now I will be able to start from 3k RPM, which "should" bring the 60' down to 1.8 or maybe lower.... this is with VDC on so, it won't void any warranties...

Thanks Bro I read up on that at NAGTROC too... so now its like my 997TT- brake boost and let her rip... looks like you might get in the high 10's??

Are you doing wheels on the car? Thoughts?

I just received the custom tune and am going to see if I can get the nissan update done tomorrow and hit the track....

While it "should" run a high, high 10 second pass with these two additions and cool weather, I'm not counting on it... I know how elusive the last 2/10's can be...

I'll be keeping the stock wheels, I usually don't do wheels unless the stockers are hideous or messed up...

Nissan wouldn't do my update, have to wait two more weeks... I'm working on a custom tune for my GT-R, was on the dyno for a while today, picked up 90 HP in the midrange and 60 HP up top, we should have the power gains extended to the the top on the next revision.... today it put down 475/498 to all 4 wheels, dynojet SAE corrected.... should be about 495/500 when we're done.... today on the street, the gtec recorded 0-60 in 3.1 seconds (no LC)......

a bone stock GT-R with the launch update ran 11.3 @ 120 MPH (great weather), one would think an extra 90HP would put this car in the 10's...

I'm sure there is a ZR1 owner here in SoCal that would show you around one, Vette guys are enthusiasts at heart and most have a good appreciation for all cars; and would welcome a new member to the family. I have never been waved at by another E-Class owner, but when I had my Z06 I would get a friendly wave from every other Vette driver on the road.

Yep. That's why I still have my vette. Love to wave!
