What's your top speed in the M6 ?

 

My personal top speed was 189mph but she had a lot left- the road on the other hand did not.

 

i have a vacant two mile stretch of road near where i live. Now want to try a top speed run. 1.5 miles + .5 to stop. I can probably hit the beginning on the stretch at 60mph from a connecting road and run it from there. What do you think I could hit? I might try it this month... Is stock E55 limited? I guess I'll find out....

you did a lovely run of 165mph on our way home from Ed's place against that CL55, that was in the P-Car though. I had a lil fun with that E46 M3 at 140mph that popped outta nowhere. Good times!

Although "top speed" isnt my thing, if i had the room and the ***** I think I could hit 205+

 

I hit 167 in a 95' e36 m3 in northern Virginia a couple years back (modified suspension, jimC chip, flywheel, short shift, intake)....my e55 however, haven't pushed it much but hit 130-140 ish 3 or 4 times. Going way back....I would drive my VW corrado G60 at 140 almost every day...hahahah, crazy times :-)

 

I find it effortless to hit 150-160 daily but pushing 180-190 is always a chore. The time to go from 160 to 180-190 is that much longer and the dangers associated with it are exponential.

Today I was just running on a Mexican road and the speed was north of 160. I didnt even realize it. I love Mexico and its lack of rules.

 

Back when I had my RT SL65, I bounced it off the 186 limiter a few times..

My new VRP tune should have the VRP1000 SL65 do about 230mph or so.. I think that's what we calculated..

 

 

Do it! 230 must feel crazy! Don't forget to video it for the rest of us to see. That should be amazing!

 

Just an FYI-----for those going to the texas race.....they require a 4 pt cage for those expecting to exceed 190mph.

 

I went through radar at 140mph @ 3am...he was stationary and I kept it pegged, he lost sight of me and didn't really catch up for a few minutes...by this time I was driving the speed limit after down shifting and using the e-brake, he (state trooper) tailed me for about 15 minutes until I exited the interstate. I'm assuming he was totally confused since it was almost impossible for him to identify me in the dark going 140...he would only have seen me for a split second, so when he caught up to me and I was driving the speed limit, he wasn't sure if I was the same car that just blasted through radar.....

 

What a great story- I would have loved to have seen the look on his face.

I've got one in my car, but I must have missed that on their web site when I registered. There is an easy way around that rule. Just "dial-in" at 190, and run til they kick you out.

Rules like that always make me laugh, like a crash at 190mph is really any different than a crash at 205mph either way you're F%*!#&!

 

I remember that, from back in the late 1990s/early 2000s, right? Except I thought the top speed was more like 220ish, and it was built by Brabus not Kleeman.

That thing was an 'effin BEAST. They managed to cram a V12 into an E320. It was sick. I'm pretty sure it was actually built for the owner of Brabus. Dunno whatever happened to it.

 

+1, that's why I don't get people who get so mad at guys that go 75 on the freeway because its "dangerous". Like crashing at 65 vs. 75 is gonna make a difference. But yeah so long as you dial in at 190, it will take a couple runs before they figure it out. Jim, I bet your car is rock solid at high speeds with all the aero, but with the dymags does the steering feel start to get a little floaty?

When I had my E55 I did the same thing on the 55 freeway here in So. Cal at like midnight on a weekday. I flew by a CHP Ford Explorer/Escape (couldn't really tell , just saw the lights and the rest was a blur), he turned his lights on and made an absolutely futile attempt at trying to catch up. He was maybe 65, I flew by at 120 and once I noticed it was a cop and saw the red and blues blaring, I kept it nailed. Last I ever saw of him.

 

Hard to outrun those Motorolas...be safe.
