TPMS DIY install question

TPMS DIY install question
So I need to replace my front TPMS sensors and I was curious if any here has done this themselves before? I bought the ones from tire rack and asked a local tire installer if they could do it but we were not sure what the long thin metal rod included was used for? Also does someone know what the torque specs are for the little bolt? Any ideas out there? Any help would be great, thanks!

What brand sensors did you buy from tirerack?
I need all 4 sensors, and can't find them on tire rack.
Anybody else know the brand from tirerack?

TPMS Sensor - 315Mhz
To the OP, I would say just crack open the tire and look at the old one and make the new one look identical to it

the thin rod is only to counterhold the valve while tightening (after inserting the rod inside a similar hole the valve itself has)
.. in other words, it serves nothing
