Can an E55 have this exhaust sound?
As I am planning to buy my E55 this summer, I am planning the "extras" as well. Do you think an E55 can reach this kind of sound with any mods or exhausts?

You can achieve almost any sound you want by changing the muffler. I don't know if the stock CLK 63 black series sounds like that, but I would imagine you could get that kind of sound with some bullet type mufflers, maybe Borla XR1's.
Here's one example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VMgQ...eature=related
and here's a more extreme example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFmvl8tVDkI

that is a German CLK SAFTEY or what we call here in the US a PACE car
for a racing track,,
the reason it sounds like that, a great 60's muscle car, is that it is running a pretty much straight racing exhaust,, probably straigh pipes with no cats and no res and maybe a tiny race muffler
in addition, the mercedes race cars have higher compression,, race headers, and likely using higher octane.. to compensate..
that is why it sounds loud and rumbles..
you could get your car to sound like that,, but on a highway you would likely get pulled over by police for sound violation and emmisions..
as that is a race car and considered offroad and not subject to emmisions regs.
the SNEAKY way around this is to install a butterfly exhaust pipe with a Y pipe in each pipe, after primary cats where one side goes to your regular exhaust and mufflers
all the way back and the other is only 6 inches long with a butterfly valve that when opened from inside the car, will give you straight header exhaust,, LOUD.
hot roads have used this for years.. so you can flip a switch when on a road you know wont have alot of people or cops and open the exhaust,,
and then close it again,, if you get pulled over,, lol saying " I dont hear anything loud" lol
here is a picture of the electronic valve that you place at the short end of the Y pipe that is straight from the headers..

here is the Y pipe, that you put on EACH pipe, before your resonator or X-pipe, one goes to normal piping, other has above electronic valve on it that when open will
divert exhaust straight from headers,,when closed you will have normal exhaust

Im thinking about gettn one. too.. they are cheap
when open that will make the car 3 times louder,.. and more HP,, as well.
