which added another 65 HP,, lol and considering the EVO weight these things were doing sick times,, like 10 flat or more
some of these ricer import tuners are now really starting to produce some good fast cars finally,,
the GTR is kinda proof of this I hate to admit, wiping all the records on NURENBERGER and SEBRING and everywhere else

some of these tuner cats spend 100k in performance add ones,, and with a 3000 lb car and 500 + hp, that is carbon fiber,, that is some serious

DOO DOO lol
its true you dont want alot of backpressure on SC cars,
but 100 and 200 cel cats almost dont impede flow at all if they are high flow,, and if you drive the car on the street you have to be quasi legal at least..

if it is just a track car,, you can del cats.. sure,, but does not sound as good really just louder.. but serves a purpose on track sometimes

but there are plenty of cat equipped track cars that will destroy an AMG

the new high flow cats from japan are really really good.
well...none of those cars are s/c'd either.

anyways, i reenforced my belief that exhuast systems are called "systems" for a reason. they're not cut-n-paste projects which unfortunately is how most people attack them.

well I agree, that if you dont know what you are doing
get a whole system

but I have posted for people on a budget

to work from the mufflers back,, and not start to cut out **** first
but to replace mufflers first, and then the resonator with X-pipe,
then the midpipe and replace cats , and lastly the headers..

that way they can tune their sound how they want it,, and stop when they like it..

[quote=ECBAOBAO;3403147]A member on the board (storm) described it perfectly, you can hear all the cylingers firing it sounds like da da da da. He said that the addition of an xpipe will cause the sound to smooth out and give more of a daaaaaa sound.

this is a classic example of good mufflers smoothing out the sound
from a farting motorboat to a midtoned singing proper exhaust

BMW M 3 stock-- has burble and muscle car farting sound,, sounds bad.

then M 3 with remus, notice how it is smoother,
and has better midtone and sort of sings and howls, rather than grunts..

much better
and thats before an X-pipe which would even make it sound better still

When I delete my primary cats I might put my stock resonator back on. But for now my car sounds perfect!

well you got the X-pipe part right he needs one for sure,
but you want to replace the resonator its a POS, and a bottleneck and weights 37 pounds.. and put the X-pipe MIDCAR,,

NOT where the 2nd cats are..

better to replace 2nd cats with god MIDPIPE straight, to let the exhaust build up some velocity before the x-pipe, let the X-pipe smooth it out,
and then put some bullet high flow resonators after X-pipe before mufflers
to reduce drone and resonance, and smoother out the sound from reflections,,

here are 2 really good sounding examples using X-pipe and remus mufflers

on W 211 merc with X-pipe but without resonators, good but has a slight harshness causes by sound reflections which would be removed by resonators

BMW M5 with remus muffs and X-pipe and with RESONATORS, notice smoother howl and sound
