Talking Want your Suggestion Guys!!

Hey Guys, I wanted to get your Input on whats on my mind for my next purchase. What I should do. Here it is ===

Keep the CLS63 or Buy a 2005 Gallardo E-gear! Color will Be Orange!

I do not drive my CLS63 everyday better yet its been in the Garage since November to get the idea. No matter if I keep or sale the CLS63, Whatever I buy it will be my "TOY". As far as mods go I have not modded my CLS63 and I had it for over 2yrs. Opps I lied I do have a sprintbooster and KNfilters but thats it. So guys what would you do?????

Keep the AMG

I'm probably in the minority here but I find Lamborghinis and the like too flash, especially in orange/yellow/green. Plus 2005s were down on power, if I remember correctly.

It's a moot point. Unless it's an Enzo or a LP640, most italian cars are pretty slow compared to their german or american counterparts.

The italian stuff is all about the driving experience, not really the speed.

Thanks for your Input. To be Honest I bought the CLS for style, looks (flash),and power. I always wanted a Lambo but the price was unreachable for me when I bought the Benz. NOW after driving the Gallardo for a day I can honestly say its a fun car/TOY and from a roll it really shines!! My CLS63 would get toasted from a roll and the cost are down on these cars right now!

Sounds like you should go for it then. They certainly handle wonderfully, from what I could tell from a spot of driving in the canyons when I had my 996. Lot more reliable nowadays thanks to VAG, too.

The noise and feel makes them seem even quicker than they are, but I'm sure in the straights that your CLS63 would hang. But as CWW said, they are not about just straight line power.

Gotta admit when my wife rented me one for the weekend, toward the end of the rental, it started to wear on you a little bit.

"Okayyy okayyy, I see you waving and thumbs upping.....yes I see you taking cell phone pics and pumping your fists" It was literally non stop.

E Gear was a blast though!!

Guess if it's just an occasional driver...go for it, but be ready for Paris Hilton status instantly. (just all eyes on you. Not that you'll taking **** movies and posting them on the net or anything)

Thanks Carl! And Yes the Sound that they sing is so lovely . I guess the only thing I would have to get used too is sitting even lower than I do now....

Shoot the Maintenance on my Hummer is Terrible and Man I will never buy another one. But thats and I won't go there.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
Go for the Gallardo !
Also, the attention you get depends on the area in which you live! Some areas they are commonplace....
CWW is very right, the Italian experience is more about the drive/feeling than the speed (most are somewhat slow)......

For a toy, no question. I find the CGT interesting, but I may be getting to old to pull it off. So, do what you can while you can (Paris would be a bonus).

Can't say I agree with you there, 06+ Gallardo's and F430's run 11's in the 1/4 mile stock and close to 200mph top speed. New Gallardo LP560 ran 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and 11.2 @ 130mph 1/4 mile in C@D test. That's a lot faster than any Mercedes, BMW, Audi, or Porsche (those times are even faster than CGT and GT2).

Addicted, you're not really going to argue C&D numbers, right? They're usually B.S.

Everybody knows a stock Gallardo is a high 12-second car...big freakin' whoop. Any of the current crop of AMG's will best that easily, STOCK.

Look:
http://www.dragtimes.com/compare2.ph...ame=Compare%21

And once you start modding, it just gets worse from there. For their $200k price tag, they are slow as hell! Any stock AMG made after 2002 can beat it with no problems. Ditto with the current M-cars. And we're talking like, family sedans here, that weigh like 3k lbs more. You can blow the Lambo away with the baby seat in the back, getting a butt massage from your air conditioned seat. From a speed vs. $$$ perspective, it's laughable.

Looking at your link, stock 08 Gallardo Superlaggera ran 11.7 @ 123mph and regular 06 SE ran 11.8 @ 118mph. 520hp and 3,400lbs is a better power/weight ratio than almost any German car. As far as the new LP560, almost every test has it running low 11's at close to 130mph. If you don't believe C&D, look at Motortrend test: 11.6 @ 127mph and 3.4 seconds 0-60.

For a toy car, I would sell the CLS63 and get the Gallardo...NO CONTEST.

The Gallardo is not the fastest exotic, the Lambo eGear is not the best transmission, and it certainly is flashy in orange but the fact remains that it is a fantastic car. They are easy to drive and far better in all parameters than the CLS63. Just watch out for those steep curb cuts!

Having owned F, P, and L (the other L car) cars, a Gallardo is high on the hit list for my next toy. I am personally into Chrome Yellow over black with yellow stitching...it's the bling that makes these cars fun!

Yeah, but as you said, that's the Superleggera. It's like 600lbs lighter than a regular Gallardo, and has tweaked suspension and tranny, so naturally it's going to be a little faster than normal. I don't know much about the SE model, but the normal Gally isn't really faster than most AMG's or BMW M cars. The numbers don't lie, there are a pile of entries on dragtimes from different owners, that all verify the Gally as being a mid/high 12sec car.

Look at that comparison I gave you the links for, you have to scroll over to like the 3rd or 4th whole page of times before you find a Gallardo besides for an SL or SE mixed in with the AMG times. I completely believe you about the magazine numbers, but those tests don't use a standing start, and they do use a delay, etc. It's not a real-world number.

Also, 0-60 times are only good for barroom banter anyway. Outside of a magazine, who ever stops racing at 60? The Lambo has a definite advantage there because it's AWD and doesn't have traction issues, so it may have a better 0-60 but in the real world it still gets pulled.

Don't get me wrong, I love italian cars. Just sayin', though, they aren't the fastest things around, especially if you're looking at $$$ vs. speed. Any lightly modded 55k, 63, or a stock 600 or 65 should all have no problem pulling it, and some stock 55k's put up faster times.

Also, just to compare apples to apples, C&D got 4.3 0-60 and 12.5 in the 1/4 for a stock E55. That was a STOCK E55...

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...st+page-3.html

And Motor Trend got 4.2 0-60 and 12.4 in the 1/4 in a STOCK E55...

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...omparison.html

By contrast, Car and Driver only got 4.1 0-60 and 12.4 in the 1/4 in a Gallardo:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...co+page-3.html

And your Motor Trend got 4.7 0-60 and 13.08 in the 1/4 for the Gallardo :

http://motortrend.automotive.com/881...ecs-price.html

I'm telling you, they really are slower than stock AMG's or M cars, and MUCH slower than an AMG or M with even mild mods. The Superleggera and LP640 are obviously a whole other ballgame, but I don't think the OP is talking about buying a $200k+ car, he's talking about a regular Gallardo...

I totally agree. In fact, I voted for him to get the Lambo as well. No comparison, really, my only comment was they aren't the fastest things going, but that the superb driving experience makes up for it. No question that I'd rather have the Lambo.

I am dying for a Maserati Cambiocorsa myself. They're not the fastest, but there's just nothing like an italian car...

Thanks guy and I don't want to start a Car War... I love the AMG no doubt, but I'm not just in it for the speed....lol. I have not even topped out my benz yet. But from the experience of driving the Gallardo I would bet that from any rolling speed the Lambo will pull my benz. At a Stand still my CLS63 will hang but 100+ mph the Lambo is gonna start to walk it... nodoubt.
