Drag Strip vs Pbox (vbox)

I took the CL65 to MIR this morning. I let Jay pilot it down twice. He did a "hot lap". I had to leave to get back to work (where I am stuck now). The car was running BFG drag radials street tires. The results:

Timeslip of best (1st) run:

60': 1.727
330': 4.784
1/8m: 7.288
1/8 trap: 98.66mph
1000': 9.430
1/4m: 11.237
1/4 Trap: 124.00mph

Here is the interesting thing in comparing the times to the pbox...the pbox will display the acceleration with the 1ft roll-out setting on the screen...but when I downloaded it to the pbox software the #'s are without the 1ft roll-out...weird.

Per pbox (without 1ft roll-out):
0-30mph: 1.45
0-40mph: 1.97
0-50mph: 2.66
0-60mph: 3.39
0-70mph: 4.16
0-80mph: 5.18
0-90mph: 6.28
0-100mph: 7.46
0-110mph: 8.78
0-120mph: 10.50
0-130mph: 12.34

60': 1.98
330': 5.01
1/8m: 7.52
1/8trap: 100.44mph
1/4m:11.47
Trap: 125.35mph

As you can see the pbox is a little slower by about .23s because of the 1 foot roll-out allowed by the drag strip timing lights. The flip side is that the trap speed is higher from the GPS system because it is measuring the "exact speed" at 1,320 ft...but the drag strip trap is measuring the average speed over the final 60'.

Your worst nightmare...
Tom, congrats those are some great times! Are you planning on doing any more mods to the beast?

Do you mean G-tech? Those use just an accelerometer (measures g forces) to calculate the time to speed. The pbox/vbox uses GPS satellites to measure acceleration. the G-tech is highly sensitive to the pitch of your car (how your car shifts weight upon acceleration) and can be somewhat inaccurate (I have one). The pbox/vbox is accurate to 1/100 of a second.

Thanks! I am going to wait to see how your VRP mods go... I am content for now. The track wasn't hooking too great today and the temps were brushing up against 60 degrees. I think with some cooler air and better prepped surface it will be an 11.0X car...I think 10's are not in the cards without some additional mods.

If you get the Ice reservoir in the trunk, it's guaranteed tens. Just expanding the cooling capacity gains you +3 more mph....

I watched Chiromikey do it in front of my eyes. It's really amazing.

Packed it full of ice and WHAM, 11.3 on a pretty miserable day for most of us time wise.

Yeah...I know....but I like the security of having a full sized spare...I have used it 3 times in the last year.

2011 Black C63 Eurocharged V5
does anyone have vbox data for stock e55 and/or a modded e55 upto whatever? perferably to 170mph.

I wanna see where exactly an average stock E55 or stage 1/2/3 stack up against M5/M6's

heres a slightly modded M5(pretty close to stock) run....

0-100 9.5
0-110 11.3
0-120 13.3
0-130 15.7
0-140 18.5
0-150 21.7
0-160 25.6
0-170 30.2

Id like to see where we stack up REALLY...Im getting my pbox next week.

Thanks...admittedly Jay is a better driver....and he now weighs 47lbs less than me...so I wanted to see the potential of the car on the first run. I didn't have time to stick around and do some runs. Hopefully the weather is a little cooler at the end of March. The track prep wasn't great and should get better.
