How do I take my Steering Wheel off?

Hey Guys,

So I bought a flat bottom steering wheel and I want to take my current one off. Does anyone know the steps to get this done?

Thanks,

disconnet both battery, remove air bag via torx screws on the back of steering wheel. once air bag is off it is pretty self explanatory.

What he said. If you don't have torx bits long enough to reach the screws in the back of the airbag, they have a tool at home depot for pretty cheap. It's a folding tool just like this one, the brand is Husky.

Then to take the wheel off all you'll need is a large hex socket and a breaker-bar, or an impact wrench of you have one.

Actually for E55 wheels they give you $150.00. I have a dark burlwood MP Design wheel on my car. I want to sell it myself, I think it has more value than $150.00.

I paid $850 for the wheel shipped. You can get the credit for the wheel and the grand total will be $700. Not too bad for a quality piece.

Taking off the airbag is easy... I had to take it to the shop to get off the main bolt in the middle. The tech said he had to use his 1/2" air wrench and really hammer the bolt to get it off. Theres no way mine was coming off at home.

Baris, that steering wheel looks great!! If you are in the area stop by the shop so I can have a look at it (I have been thinking about doing the E63 steering wheel w/ paddle shifters but this one looks great as well).

It is actually a great looking wheel. Now I want to attach paddle shifters, does anyone know what options the E55 has?

Damn, $700 is a lot of money for a steering wheel. I think I will just stick with the stock one. Yours looks awesome though!

There's a DIY in that thread for how to adapt the E63 paddles to work with the E55.
