UPS just dropped off my 2.5" Magnaflow X-pipe. Should I send it back and get the 3"? what do you guys think?

 

stock pipes are 2.5" you will be fine

Actually, stock pipe size on most E55s is 70mm (2.76"). The early W211 E5 5cars had 60mm (2.36") pipe size.

So when buying an X-pipe, it's useful information to know which size pipes are on your car. Get a cheap dial caliper and measure the outside pipe diameter. Bottom line is you do NOT want to put a 2.5" X-pipe on your car if it has the 70mm plumbing; to do so adds restriction that is easily avoided.

 

I might take it off your hands NDF55, anyone know the stock pipe size of C63. I think it is 2.5" so can anyone confirm?

 

Komp55- Just to clarify, you are saying that because my car is a 2006 I have the 2.76" exhaust. If that is the case than I definitely don't want to put a smaller diameter x-pipe on my car. I will send it back and get the 3"'

Chubbs032- Thanks for the offer, but because it's brand new in the box, it's probably easier for me just to send it back and get the 3" x-pipe. You can order one from Autoanything.com for around $90 and if I'm not mistaken shipping is free. Thanks guys.

 

YEAH, if you have an AMG merc , your stock piping is 2.75 "
and you need to do 3" piping at least from the cats back

if you have a reg MERC with a M 113 or M 273 engine, you have
2.25" stock and a 2.5" is fine..

 

stock size of the NEW C63 is 2.75" for the 6.3 motor I believe..

 

Just to add if you look at the 13.2" vs. the 14" the design is slightly different. The 14" one is much more easily integrated in place of the resonator on our cars.

 

If your car is a 2006, then you most definitely have the 70mm (2.75") tubing.

 

Thank you for clearing this up for me guys, I'm gonna send back the 2.5" x-pipe and order the 3" one. Wouldn't want to choke the exhaust.

Does it have to replace resonator or can it be used to replace secondary cats? I was thinking of leaving the resonator and removing secondary cats.

 

My car is a 2003 w211 e55 so should i still go with the 3"? Will I lose to much back pressure with that?

If you still have cats, don't worry about losing back pressure. You'll be fine.

You can get magnaflow x-pipes super cheap from jegs.com or summitracing.com and both stores have incredible customer service and usually super cheap shipping, if not free.
