Thinking about getting an 07 Audi S6...

I know it won't be as fast, but its a nice car that is no slouch and has a great interior. The reason I'm thinking is because the new E class is around the corner and it makes no sense for me to buy another W211. New M5 and M6 are around the corner too. The S6 will not change body style for another two years and you can get a good deal on a used one.

My car is an 04 with 75K miles, so I am thinking about getting something newer. Would it be a mistake to go with S6? I did test drive one and it was nice, I just do not know if I will regret it later... getting rid of the beast that is (even though the technology is a bit dated).

S6's are great cars what you trade in brute power you get back in refinement, I would gander that the tech. on both cars is quite similar it's just that in the S6 the execution is better. The drive in the S6 can be a bit antiseptic, everything is muted, not totally unexpected given the awd drivetrain. I guarantee you will miss the power, even more considering you are a power junkie (gleaned from your sig.) but the secondary market seems to be treating the Audi much better than the Merc.'s.

E55
Are you simply worried that your W211 is going to start having problems? Seems there's a couple of guys on here with 100k+ on their cars and they are still going strong.

Sounds like you have a new car itch though... I don't blame you as that's how I ended up with my E55 in the first place.

What makes you want the S6? IMO, the E55 and M5 are far superior in all aspects even though the S6 is no slouch.

Have you considered the new CTS-V?

I want to stick to a German brandname. I am not a fan of the current SMG in the Ms. Plus, new Ms are coming out this year with a dual clutch SMG, which will make the current one even less desirable. I do not buy cars new, but wait about a year or so until they take the initial depreciation.

I have warranty, so I'm not really worried about problems... I guess its that new car itch, but also the fact that as my E will get more miles, I will lose whatever little value this car has left over in it.

Yeah, that was a total guess. Looks like I know prices since I am always on manheim but a bummer on trade value

Private party I see no more than 24k for the car.. the tax savings might even it out and in this economy don't have to wait for a buyer.

I actually just looked at manheim too, and those are the prices they are going for about

2008 Audi S6 5.2 BLACK - located AZ - Manheim Arizona

14,100 mi
Above: $52,700
Average: $51,600
Below: $50,400

Let me see if I can find an 07.. only found 1 08 right now listed above

Those numbers are the MMR: meaning the AVERAGE for what it sells for in the condition listed. Since these cars are all pretty new, there isn't a big diff btwn above and below as you can see. BRB looking for 07s
