New here and just saying hello !!

Hi guys and girls, I just sold my 01 E320 and hope to be into a 06 E-55 mid next week if all goes to plan, so I thought I would stop drooling over your cars and introduce myself !!

I have a choice between two black one's right now one with 17000 miles for $42000 and the other with 32000 miles for $38000, belive it or not the higher mile car seems to be in better condition interior and body wise as the low milage car has a fairly big scratch on the right rear quater and it would need paint to fix, both feel the same to drive, the only thing I dont like about the car with 32000 miles is that it has the grill with the big emblem but I guess I can change that.

wish me luck with the purchase !!

Scott

Welcome to the world of torque!

Personally, I would probably go for the car with 17K miles. 15K miles is worth fixing up a minor scratch. Hell, get them to bring the price down even more because of it. Also, there is a thread floating around with some recent auction prices for our cars...check it out and arm yourself.

Assuming from the AUS you are either in Austin TX or Down Under.

If the later, get in touch with a guy named Finny on the boards.

He's an Aussie AMG tweaking monster down there and is one of the best guys on this board.

If Austin, then welcome and don't forget to use that search engine. Helps a lot if you do a custom search just to include the W211AMGs. Works great.

If not, the guys don't punish you too bad for not using it.

May get an occasional STFF, but these guys are great for the most part.

Unhappy

Well after selling my 01 E320 this week , I went back to have another look and possibly buy the 06 E55 with 32,000 miles on it, it was raining pretty hard here in H-town last saturday when i looked at at it and seems I missed a few MINOR things that were messed up on the car ,

the front bumper was messed up (I cant beleive that i missed this on sat) , front grill was broken into two peices (wasn't like that on sat), rear quarter had a nice ding and scratch above the fuel filler door Which the stealer said he would Paintless dent remove by drilling a whole through the door jam and put a plug in it after the repair PDR was finished (Idiot), Valve covers were leaking badly as was the rear main (dealer told me I could get them fixed at the dealer myself under warranty), they also told me lasy week that the car had Factory warranty until july of 2010 but when I looked at the carfax the far was sold in October 2005 so i guess that the warranty will run out in October this year,

So I guess I am still In the market, I'm a little bumed out but I feel good about walking from this deal. I guess now it going to be much harder to go and look at one thought if they are interstate,

Try a 2007 Certified E63, for around $50,000-53,000 warranty to 100,000K. . Miles should be around 20,000k. You have upgraded for a few thousand. No worries, life is good.

Good thing you caught that before signing the dotted line, chum. The deals have been getting better with time, so you should have better luck next time. Keep your eyes peeled
