Hows the E63 with Performance Package Ride
Hi guys. I am in the process of purchasing the 2008 E63 and was wondering hows the ride quality for the E63 with the performance package? I am hoping its not a bone jarring ride, because I live in Southern CA and the roads are pretty bad around here. Thanks.
It's adaptive, I have never ridden in one w/o it, but I am pretty sure w/ the settings on comfort, the 2 cars are the same. I think its great, I wouldn't get one w/o it! Get DISTRONIC!!! its your friend.
I love the performance package suspension on my E63. However, it does indeed provide for a "harsher" ride than the regular E63, as I've driven both more than enough. The P30 package suspension is definitely stiffer, and was calibrated more towards track use. That being said, once you're used to it, you'll never want to go back to a non performance package AMG ever again

The 030 package has different "tuning" for the Airmatic. I am not sure what the difference in parts is, though.
The LSD you have. The ECU tune you have.
Out of curiosity, I would love to measure or check the Sway bars. The E55 already has some pretty fat ones but another 5mm may help some with the initial lean.

Jon,
For the Performance Package E 63 AMG (P30)
The front axle 35% stiffer in rebound and 35% - 45% stiffer in compression.
The rear axle, the suspension is 45% - 60% stiffer in the rebound and compression.
Warmest regards,

The higher spring rates do change the character a bit from a standard E. The main benefit right now is primarily the unique status.
The only time I was able to really evaluate the difference was in Vegas at an AMG PL event where I could compare head to head. The P30 was more "planted" and held a line better resulting in smoother steering inputs. The LSD helped only on 1 or 2 corners, mainly the one going over a bump onto the front straight. I will also say that the pro driver I was following did not have the P30 and would have had no problem pulling away.

P30 rears are 9.5" vs 9" for non-P30 cars.
The advantage of them is that they are a unique identifier of a P30 car.
I also like the look better than the normal rims.

There is an optional performance package that can be ordered on the E63 designated with the alpha numeric code P30. The P30 performance package comes with different wheels, stiffer suspension (mainly programming but there maybe hardware changes as well), ECU delimited to 186 mph instead of your standard 155 mph, alacantra steering wheel, AMG limited slip differential. So yes, there are two different suspension setups available for the E63. This was also available on for E55s, but for the European models only NOT U.S. cars.
