I'm stationed at Ft Bliss as well. Do you have your E with you? I've only seen one other E55 in town over the past 6years that I've been in ELP.

Leave it to me to bring this thread back from the dead... I just bought a Chrysler MaxCare 6/100 from the Ziegler website (Michael Case) and just got the paperwork. I was under the impression from various posts that it began term and mileage from the date of purchase but my paperwork says it expires 11/24/12 or 100k miles. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Ok, so everyone said they no longer coverd the car but it lets you run a quote and purchase one on a E55. What's the deal?

It was cleared up in that thread you're talking about. They're still selling them. I am going to call them and straighten out the contract length Monday. I know I read a dozen posts on here that said it begins the day you buy it, with the length and mileage adding on x years and x miles.

the only service contracts that start the day you buy them are the ones that cover "out of warranty" cars.

The Chrysler contracts are specifically for cars currently covered under the manufacturers warranty.

Every service contract I know of starts at the "in service date" of your vehicle and the miles then. Thus - the 7 year 100K miles contract I have started when I bought my car - it's certainly not 7 years starting the day I bought it, or even the end of the warranty period.

Plans like that would be a nightmare to administer.

Not according to the warranty I bought from Chrysler. I bought a warranty for my 2004 E55 with 46k miles. The Chrysler plan I bought - 4 years and unlimited mileage - was put into place without any trouble, just a quick inspection at the dealer. I bought this car in October 2009, well past the factory warranty. If they plan only started from the in-service date, my car would not have been eligible.

This is the best deal out there.

Here is the link.

I also disagree. While most warranties I have seen work the way you described, the Chrysler Warranty I bought in early Oct. does start at the time of purchase. I bought the 5yr/70k mile maximum care warranty, and the contract I received says the car is covered until Oct. 2014 or 105k miles (my car had 35k miles when I purchased the warranty).

The exact wording on the contract is, "Plan coverage expires 60 months from the date you purchase the plan or when you have driven the vehicle 70,000 miles from the effective mileage of the plan (whichever occurs first).

Thank you guys for the replies. That's what I thought when I bought it. I am guessing this is just an error somewhere. I will call tomorrow and try and clear it up. Will post back and give an update.

milepostnate - you are correct - you purchased the used Max Care warranty and these used car warranties start at the "current" mileage. Most folks here are purchasing the New car MaxCare warranty - which in fact - starts from the ISD and mileage at the ISD and is more comprehensive in nature.

Hopefully you can get this sorted out.

i purchased this plan back in march (started the thread)...my car currently has 103k miles on it and had to be towed to the shop...problems...

1.bad coil pack
2.tpms module
3.a/c stops working after 50 miles or so
4.led turn signal out on the passenger mirror.

they picked it up on friday...i will post how it went with the warranty when i get it back...i've heard both good and bad on when chrysler pays for the work done.

It sounds like someone filled out the application incorrectly. One of the questions determines if the car is still under warranty.

You should prepare yourself for fronting the money, sorry to say. Took me a couple of months to get reimbursed. Dealer naturally wasn't going to release the car until they got paid and Chrysler said it could take up to a week to reimburse the dealer directly.

You could rent a car with maybe some reimbursement but that sucks so I paid

I don't know how else I would fill it out... I am still under warranty and that's what I put on the application.

I just noticed that your plan is a 6yr/100k mile warranty. I'm wondering if this is a different plan than I bought. When I purchased mine in Oct., the longest MaxCare (exclusionary) policy they offered was the 5yr/70k mile warranties. They had several other warranties, but I wanted the most comprehensive coverage for the longest term possible.

Here is a link to what I am referring to: http://www.factoryplans.com/assets/c...ximum_Care.pdf

yes they are 2 different things... the 5/70 starts the day you buy the warranty. The car can be as old as a 1998 model with up to 80k miles. So if you buy at 78k miles, you can have coverage till 148k miles or 5 additional years whichever comes first.

the 6/100 and 7/100 plans begin on the original inservice date of the car. These are only available for cars still under factory warranty period.

If the guy who bought the 6/100 wants the 5/70 he better hurry up and cancel it to change plans. I dont know if they offer the 5/70 to cars still under factory warranty though

Just to chime in, because I forgot if I did or not, but I had a strut take a dump, a control arm go bad, a shortcut in my seat causing my ventilated/heated seat fuse to pop (turned out to be a kinked wire INSIDE the driver seat!!!). Chrysler paid for EVERYTHING, even the diagnostic time to figure out why my fuse kept shorting, my strut, etc. Paid for itself thrice over!

So is it better to get coverage while still under warranty or after your warranty has expired to extend coverage longer?

Somewhere I also heard that it is less expensive if you buy the warranty under 40K miles. Does anyone know if that is the case?

I have an '05 E55 @ just over 39K miles now.

Yes- always better to get the new warranty while you have an existing warranty. It's always lower priced that way. The second point- not sure of.

I have an '06 E55 with 48,400 miles, due to go out of warranty in June but will reach 50k by March...and am considering an aftermarket warranty. Considering that mine was one of the last E55s I tend to think I might be OK without but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Just so I understand, did the deductible apply to each individual warranty-repair item in a visit or for the whole visit?

Also, do you HAVE to use an MB dealer or can you use a well-established independent MB shop?

Finally, any concern that this won't be available anymore if I wait a couple months to do it? (i.e. just before expiration of factory warranty)

Thanks in advance.

Update?

Also, I purchased my car with an existing Chrysler warranty. I filled out the transfer paperwork but have yet to receive anything back with my name on it. This was more than a month ago.

Has anyone transferred before and had to deal with this. I wish they had a better website/contact source.
