Lotus Esprit/VW GTI/E55 AMG
Man...Micheal is getting on my nerves. I might as well buy the warranty through their website but I've read that people purchased the 5/70 warranty for $2335 in the past but when I go through their quote process I get $2800...did they raise their prices? My car is a 03 with 47K on the clock.

I am pretty sure that there was a $500 increase towards the end of the last year. There was also another increase at the beginning of 2009.

Mikey33 bought it January 3rd for $500 less than I'm being quoted(which is the apparant "old" price listed on Michaels blog). If the price did indeed go up it must have happened after the 3rd, unless Mikey33 was given "special" pricing. What burns me is that I should have had this contract wrapped up before New Years day(more like before Christmas). I can only guess that people are being put off until the new higher pricing goes into full effect, but I'd still like to know how some people have signed up in the last couple weeks for the old price. What's going on here???

If I had put things off myself and tried to sign up today I could understand the price increase, but I believe I first tried to contact Michael a good week before Christmas(I can dig up the e-mails). I got sick of waiting so I went ahead and had the inspection done on December 31st. I just figured Michael had taken off for the holidays. Now it seems like there's some games being played, and I don't like playing games unless I get to make the rules. I tried everything I could to sign up before the start of the New year, certainly before January 3rd when Mikey33 was sold a contract for ~$2700.

I got mine on Friday for $2810 w/o the $25 off voucher (5/70). Last year the same policy cost around $2300 - $2400. I have a 2004 E55 with less than 60k miles. If the car goes over 60k miles then it is another $500 or so.

Just buy the f'ing policy for whatever it costs or be prepared to shell out triple that over the next few years with your 6 & 7+ year old cars. It's pretty simple.

You're right, I should just buy it whatever the cost, but I have a problem with being ignored while others are picking up the exact same product for $500 less.

However, i have just realized that maybe Mikey33's car has less that 60K on it, though I was convinced for some reason that it had over 60K. If that's the case the I am an idiot and can't complain about his pricing. However, I would still like to talk to Michael and get coverage. It shouldn't take 3+ weeks get a call back, and if prices did go up around Christmas/New Years I can only speculate that I was being ignored on purpose.

+1

I had just under 80k miles and paid much more than what you guys are *****ing about for the 5/70. If you're getting this bent about $500, I'd hate to see how you react to repair bills w/out warranty. Buy it.

FWIW.. I just bought it over the internet and never worried about playing phone tag with that guy. I suppose the circumstances are different because I was still under factory warranty, but do yourself and your wallet a favor and pay the piper.

If I can save $500 or at least understand what's going on with pricing by talking to Michael or askign questions on this board, then I'm going to do it. If it turns out that no matter what I have to pay the ~$3,200, then I'll probably go ahead with it anyways. It's great that you spent way more money for a warranty, but that doesn't mean I want to. I know what repair costs could be, and it's a scary thought, but why spend more than may be necessary for coverage?

Yeah, I don't think so.

Sorry guys, I just like to do my research and know exactly what's going on before I plunk down my plastic for $3K. It looks like others who have purchased the policy recently had less than 60K on their cars, hence the price that was VERY close to the OLD 60K+ price. I was confused, and got a bit worked up. As soon as I can talk to Michael I will go ahead with the purchase. I'm not stupid enough to ever think that it won't pay for itself several times over in the next 5 years.

I went ahead and bought the warranty last monday, he told me to get the inspection that same day. I get the inspection Thursday morning with my MB dealer, fax him the results that same day and have yet to receive a response. Ive sent 3 emails so far and Ill try and call him first thing tomorrow if I don't receive a email back.

Highly annoying

Hi. To check and see if he finished your contract and if it active go to chrysler.com/sc and type in the vin and your last name and hit submit. If your contract is active it will pull up the details. mikey33

Yeah you are covered. You should receive papers in the mail in about 4-6 weeks with contracts!

What if I have one year left on my CPO warranty and my car is at 45K miles? Should I go for the 5, 6, or 7 year plan? I see most individuals in this thread are going for the 5 year plan.

Is your car still under factory warranty? I called on my 04 and they told me to visit a dealership. Todd, Chrysler's contact, seems to also be on a long vacation. Anyways I am covered so that is a relief! Did you ask if there are any new changes coming for MB vehicles?

Michael Case was a great help!

My car is still under factory warranty till March 2010 and then I also have an additional 1 year CPO warranty. According to Michael, he told me to wait till right before my CPO warranty expires to get the 5 yr / 70k miles warranty. That way, you wont need to pay to get the car inspected and you will be able to potentially use all 5 years of the coverage if you keep the car that long. Otherwise, if you were to get the warranty today for instances, you would get 7 years of coverage from your inservice date. So for me, I would be paying all that money to get only 2 years of coverage.

Am I making sense?

I'm sorry, my response above was referencing my car with 26,000 miles, and I'm now realizing that your car has 45K. I highly recommend speaking with Michael, he is a great help

Hi Roseylv. Michael Case is correct. I would wait to order the warranty till your cpo is up unless you want to pay and lose several years worth of coverage. Either way the warranty is the best from what I researched and others have posted and if you see any major repairs in the near future maybe it would be wise to purchase it now or wait.

izzyz28 my car just hit the 25k mile mark so maybe that is why it was cheaper, but I did not think it made a difference? Anyways, I got my service contracts in the mail just now and everything looks great! It took only 9 days after ordering the warranty till receiving the papers so they are becoming faster!

I would call Chrysler direct. I was told by them there are two types they have and the one I bought starts at the purchase date.
