A Billet adapter plate, some work on the bypass valve, a throttle body/intake system.... what's so hard? I think a lot of folks would pony up for an R2300 2.3 liter swap kit if it was available.

where to begin...

1-TVS is a nice blower....but its a Roots type blower. Ours is a Lysholm. Ours is better and more advanced design.

2-Our Stock blowers are 2.3L already. So changing for a another less effciant roots blower would kinda be pointless. Now a 2.8L twinscrew; thats another story.

3-The TVS has its own built in bypass valve.....The E55 has its own thats controled by the ECU. Marrying the 2 would be a hassle.

4-Due to boost onset differances....the whole ecu would need to be remapped.

Pretty much---although the TVS is the most ADVANCED roots blower. its not really an improvement on our present blower. You'd be better served spending the money on SLR Intercoolers.

1. Actually, the TVS is a "twin vortices" style roots blower, like the lysholm screw, which has twin, four-lobe rotors with 160 degree twists. The TVS helix is actually more aggressive than the M112's, which makes it vastly more efficient. Here's a pic:

2. Your information about the stock M112 is incorrect. The M112 displaces 1.8 liters per revolution, the TVS is 2.3 liters per rev (28% more volume). That's why it was chosen to feed the 427 in the ZR-1 corvette.

3. I agree with number three, but someone should be able to do this using the TVS' bypass valve and the Mercedes electronics. Certainly a good engineer could handle this challenge.

4. Absolutely! Even adding a bigger crank pulley for the stock blower requires this for best results. Tuning is the least of the problems... all that's needed is a steady state dyno and a tuner that's willing to put the package all together.

I don't know.... if someone was able to figure this out, you'd be seeing 600rwhp E/S/CL55s I'm pretty sure.

Maybe no one has really got into working on it though. But I think since the 55 cars are getting cheaper and people will be modding them more will see some great stuff soon!

I think one possible reason nobody has done it yet is because tuners would lose part of their strong-hold on us. At the moment pulleys and tunes can only be sourced a couple ways. Sure other pieces like intake piping and exhaust products can be sourced outside of our regular tuners, but a lot of people don't want to go that route. If these blowers could be made to work, they could be sourced through a variety of places and then all the tuner would be needed for is a flash [in theory of course].

Allow me to cover my a$$ by stating that I am in no way a tuner hater lol. Another very good reason could be that the cost of researching this might not be worth the potential customers. The Cobra crowd would be all over a blower swap, but somehow I don't see MB owners foaming at the mouths for different blowers... At least not in the same capacity.
