Has anyone heard anything about Nankang tires?
I was looking on ebay to find some tires for my car and came across these Nankang 285-30-19 tires for the stock AMG rims. 2 for $345 pretty cheap.
Anyone with any feedback would be nice. In these times of economic crisis, I dont want to spend 7-800$ on tires.
Thanks in advance.

Split in the middle.
They came on my CLS, and people said they are known to split at the sidewalls and they damn sure did. I have never seen a tire do that before, pick something else and be safe.

Have you forgotten the saying that "you get what you pay for". These tyres are crap, you may as well just throw your money in the street because you will regret the decision. They are cheap for a reason. These tyres cannot handle the power and torque of your engine and your car will not handle as well. Your AMG deserves better, you deserve better. Quality tyres and parts for a quality vehicle. If you want cheap motoring buy a Hyundai or Kia and fit nankangs to it.

I would not trust my life to a cheap tire, especially as our cars are VERY hard on tires.
Look into the Toyo T1R, it is a great tire that is on the more affordable side of the spectrum.

If you are looking for a value tire, I'd recommed the Sumitomo HTR ZIII. Sumitomo is affiliated with Dunlop and manufactures some of Dunlop's tire models. Tire Rack ranks the HTR ZIII #1 in the Max Performance Summer category. In a Tire Rack test it beat out Bridgestone RE050A, ContiSportContact 3 and Yokohama Advan Sport:

The Porsche guys on Rennlist, many of whom track their cars, also recommend the HTR ZIII. I have them on my E55, and also ran them on my S2000. I think they are great value, and don't compromise performance. Certainly, the HTR ZIII outperforms the OEM Contis.

These are not quality tires esp if you plan to drive your car the way it's meant to be driven. In addition, this is your own life/safety you're compromising. Not sure what the point is of going cheap? How about just not going to Starbucks for 6 months and put the money into tires instead?
As has been said already, you get what you pay for. But tires are the only thing between you and the road. Choose wisely.

Lately, I've been buying the Michelin PS-2'S which I love for their smooth, quiet ride and traction but I have to admit, the price of the Michelin's is getting out of control. Just priced rear tires, again, and was floored by the cost. Over $800 on the car.

I had the same Nankang tyres fitted to my car when I got a flat in the 'outback' - no other option.
They were rubbish even compared to the Falken 452s they replaced.
