Actually the School of Law library. I don't know if it opened up yet. I believe it's sometime this year.

Our CLS is tinted 35%, but the chrome strip around the windows breaks up all the black. Since the E doesn't have that, it would look like one flat, black panel.

Can you guys post pics and give your recommendation? I'll sleep so much better at night. Thanks!

HI

well it all boils down to 2 things,, your TASTE< and how the cops are in your city lol

I chose 50% front and 4 side windows
and 35% rear window
and 18% for the SUNROOF / PANOROOF,

this has 2 effects,,

1 it allows enough light for you to see at night out the front and front sides,
and if you get pulled over the cop will not likely notice it or ticket you.

2 because the REAR window is 35% and the PANOROOF glass are 18% it darkens the look of the front 50% glass slightly too, as it lets less ambient light in from the rear and top..
so really makes the 50% more like 42 % perfect medium between 50 and 35

so its a good compromise,, as if a officer looks at the front or drivers window it will by itself not look dark,, but because there is less ambient light comming in from the back and top, for you it effectively allows less total light it, which is perfect..

a neat trick if you get pulled over for anything to make sure you dont get cited,, is roll down your driver and passenger front windows,, which hides them,
and makes the front 50% window looks alot lighter, more like 75% which is legal, by allowing more light in , so they dont notice

if you have a black car,, and do anything darker then 35%, it will
1- really increase the likehood you will get pulled over or cited for it,,
especially if you a woman,, we all know how the officers like the ladies , lol

2 it kinda starts to look GHETTO on a european car,, IMO,, and cheapens the look,

now that is not meant to offend anyone who has less than 35% tint,, its just my opinion.. to each his own..

well hope that helps your decision Lady AMG

WTS, Whittier Tint Shop.. I went with 15% all around n I'm satisfied but, I know I would be happier with 5% cuz all my cars in the past have always had limo tint.

certainly don't believe what you read on the internet. None of the above is legal. 75% is technically legal, but since OEM glass is already slightly tinted, you'd technically be running an illegal setup.

15% is dark, especially given the AMG's dark interior. 25% is dark too. 35 is dark but a tad lighter than most. It's pushing it at 35, but you may slide. If you don't give a damn about the law, then do what you want. I have 13% on my car all around.

So what was your major? Do you like what you're doing now?

Off topic-Anyone who wants to chime in......what did you major in? Would you have done something different? When did you graduate?

[quote=bobgodd;3436410]Keep in mind that any tint on the front windows is illegal in CA, so if you don't want too much hassle, 35% might be a good compromise. If the cops can still see inside your car, usually they will let you slide.

actually,, you are allowed to TINT 70% on all FRONT WINDOWS<,
just saw the CMVC code posted at my tint place, as of 2008,,

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/CA/

50% is a really good compromise,, on fronts and wont get you cited , I asked like 3 cops..

35% most times wont but if the cop wants to be a dick, he will notice it right off and cite you..

< 20% almost always guarantees a cite if you are stopped. at least in LA.

I will make a prediction though, since the LIBERAL nuts in CALI want to outlaw BLACK and DARK cars and there is a bill now being discussed.by 2011 in legislature.. to do so because they contribute to global warming
by using more AC to cool them cause they get hot,,

I think that will fail, cause otherwise there would be RIOTS<, lol

but the compromise will be for DARK colored cars to be able to get dark tinting to cool them off, so they dont have to you AC as much..

so I think you will see a compromise vehicle bill, allowing cars to go say
35% to help with the "ENVIROMENT" and please the GLOBAL WARMING NUTBAGS..

seems fair, as long as it makes TINTING TAX DEDUCTABLE<, which is may..since it will be required..

if they pass that one,, I will try and convince the GREEN MOVEMENT NUTBAGS, that I need new 20 inch rims,, cause they are more
GREEN and EARTH FRIENDLY<, for the tax deduction..

How about using a ceramic based tint? I have Formula One Pinnacle Series tint 50% on all door windows and 35% on the rear window.

There is a shop near my office that uses Formula One. I was quoted $216 for all 4 windows and rear. Is that reasonable?

That's a GREAT price for Formula One tint if it's ceramic.

I've got 20% on the back 5 windows (including the 2 triangle ones) and 35% on the front 2.

Any tint on the front 2 is illegal in most of Canada, but i haven't been pulled over in any of my cars yet.

Doing the rear window in 2 pieces is unnecessary. I would stay away from a place that thinks they need to do that.

HI

ceramic tint is the best,, really good stuff,, cuts down on the heat
about 40% more than regular tint at the same level darkness

great if you live in southwest where its hot

HUPER OPTIK and LLUMAR are the 2 best around

I guess all of us on the forum who have tint darker than 35% are ghetto. Hmmmmmm. Our cars look cheap too. IMHO, there's nothing like an all black car with dark windows (20% and under).

Kady, I used to have huper optic ceramic tint on my previous car and it looked great. Very subtle, you could still see the interior. I forget the percentage. I had tint that came on my E as well. But, that got removed because I like the look of the blue glass. Daaam I'm starting to miss my car now.
