Beating a Dead Horse: Tint %
So, I've been on the fence between having my windows tinted 50% or 35%. I've been told by some shops that 50% hardly makes a difference on the car, but 35% seems as if it may be a tad too dark.
Our CLS is tinted 35%, but the chrome strip around the windows breaks up all the black. Since the E doesn't have that, it would look like one flat, black panel.
Can you guys post pics and give your recommendation? I'll sleep so much better at night. Thanks!

All my cars (past and present) have been 20%. While it may look dark from the outside, the vision is just fine from the inside.

Here's the view from the inside: You can see out perfectly.

Do you guys know if your rear window was done in one piece or two? I know different places were telling me the pros and cons of each. I'm still not sure what's best. I would assume that the one piece is better if it has been shrunk properly for the curvature of the window?.?.
Also, have your tint guy/shop add felt to the door panel where the panel meets the inner window surface. Apparently MB stopped using it and the material used now can create little scratches in the film.

Keep in mind that any tint on the front windows is illegal in CA, so if you don't want too much hassle, 35% might be a good compromise. If the cops can still see inside your car, usually they will let you slide.
I agree with Vic, I have had all my cars at 20%, it is a very good look. Dark, but not TOO dark. Visibility inside wasn't usually a problem, but in certain areas I would have to roll my windows down when making a turn and that did suck.
When I bought my E55 I immediately took the tint OFF, which is unusual for me since all my cars have been tinted in the past. I guess I like that bluish glass lol.

The original owner of my car put 35% on the rear windows, nothing on the front. IMO it sucks... im annoyed because Im going to have to pay to have it removed before replacing it with much darker. The 35% barely looks tinted to me (especially comming from a car with 5%).
Id say go darker than 35% on the rear and 35%on the front

I'm the opposite, haven't tinted any of my cars until now. I work out in the Lake Forest/Foothill Ranch area and it gets hotter than Hell out there.
I got into my car the other afternoon and it felt like an oven! Plus, I wanna protect the Alcantera and leather.

That's cuz you don't have the kicka$$ blue glass

yeah mines at 35%
Check sig or feel free to look at my photo albums.
50%= too light.
20% or darker and you WILL have trouble seeing out those windows at night.
35% is just right without having sight issues.

yeah my glass had a very blue color to it before adding tint. Looked kinda neat! just not dark enough! Thats why 35% on top of the blue tint seems to be enough.

Yep! I stopped by a few days ago to get a new Alumni plate.
I want to take some pics of my car in the driveway in front of the stairs, but I'll have to do it when there aren't a lot of people there so they don't look at me funny.

Haha yeaa, the science library right? It's really nice and a lot quieter than Langston/Gateway. They also built a new lecture hall right next to the science library.
Oooh haha, yea, might look kinda pretentious if you parking your car infront of the flag pole and taking pictures, haha
