Calibre K40 With Laser Diffuser-Anyone Have One Installed?

I'm looking to do the K40. Anyone have success with it? I'm looking at the one with the dual diffuser and not the license frame. Let me know your thoughts...

Yep. Mine is the model before the Calibre. Only difference is the Calibre is bluetooth and mine is hard wired. I only have the front defuser, and had it hidden underneath my front plate bracket. But when I did my AMG conversion, I hid it behind the front lower mesh.

The first 2 are where the module is concealed

This one is of the LED's

This one is of the LED's lit up

Nice set-up. Does the laser jammer seem to work pretty well?

I have it. I think it sucks. Had to replace the front unit because the first one broke. Sometimes, the thing is not even on. Not sure how it shuts itself off.

Compared to my dashmounted Escort and Valentine, the warning is way later, especially on Ka band, which is what all the cops around here use. I've run the same comparison test in my E55 with a built in Escort SRX, and the SRX is much quicker to pick up signals.

As for laser, it is not very popular here. Since I first installed the SRX in the E55 four years ago, I have been hit with laser twice. Once in the E55 with SRX and once in my Jeep with K40. Both times, I was near the speed limit, so I have no clue if either worked at jamming the guns.

If I had to do it over again...I would go with the Escort 9500ci. I have the 9500ix in my E55 along with the K40. The Passport just warns me a lot sooner and has less false alerts. The GPS ability to locate traffic cams and to mark speed traps is handy. Plus I get frequent software updates via email.

Hmmmmm. I'm going to have to do some research on these. Do you guys have the bluetooth k40? I've been hit with laser several time but pulled over once. I think the GPS is nice for traffic cams and speed traps. I do, however, need something to jam laser. It's used a lot where I am.

The Escort/Passport 9500ci has "laser shifters"...see below...I have the bluetooth K40.

Escort 9500ci Radar Detector Escort 9500ci Radar Detector - $1599.95

Escort Passport 9500ci is a combo radar protection combining Radar Detection, Laser Jamming and Photo Speed Camera alerts.

We tested the Escort 9500ci radar detector and ZR4 Shifter in June 2008 at Speed Measurement Labs annual radar detector test. The 9500ci is designed as a hidden radar detector for drivers who want a hidden system in their vehicle providing the best radar, photo and laser protection in one package, The Escort Passport 9500ci is a combo radar laser system and is totally invisible to all police radar detector detectors, including the new Spectre IV. It is superb at detecting X, K, Ka, POP3 radar, and alerts to all photo speed trap locations as well as red light cameras at intersections throughout the USA and Canada. The Escort 9500ci radar detector module can be hidden behind the grille, or for much better performance and reduced installation cost, hide the 9500ci up on your passenger visor with our RADAR DETECTOR VISOR HOLDER, see details page. The Escort Passport 9500ci radar detector and ZR4 laser jammer system jams laser with three ZR4 Laser Shifters. The Radar Detector module can be installed in the grille by your local installer; or if you wish to double your 9500ci radar detection performance; YOU CAN INSTALL THE RADAR DETECTOR MODULE UP ON YOUR PASSENGER WINDSHIELD VISOR (SUNSCREEN). The Escort 9500ci has the best voice alerts I have ever heard. The Escort Passport 9500ci Radar Detector and Laser Jammer combines the ZR4 Laser Shifter and GPS Lock to provide a superb hidden, radar detector, photo alerts and laser jamming and reduced false radar alerts. The Escort Passport 9500 ci is 100% invisible to radar detector detectors; such as VG-2, VG-4, Spectre II, Spectre III, the new Spectre IV and Stalcar RDD. The new Passport ShifterZR4 Laser Jammer is included with the 9500ci radar detector to detect and jam all police laser guns. You get superb photo speed trap alerts, radar detection, electronic invisibility to all RDD and ZR4 Laser Shifter laser detection in one compact package. The GPS Locate advances radar detection with learning mode to isolate real radar alerts from false radar alerts. The Escort 9500ci radar detector can be used by drivers throughout Canada, USA and Mexico. It is manufactured in North America. Here is why the 9500ci radar detector is one of the best hidden radar detector and laser jammer systems in the world:

1) One front RADAR antenna to increase signal sensitivity while minimizing false alerts;

2) 100% invisible to all Radar Detector Detectors - VG2, VG4, Spectre II, Spectre III, Spectre IV and Stalcar RDD;

3) Radar Detection of Ka police radar and Instant on at 8-10 mile distance on flat highway;

4) Superb at detecting over-the-hill, hidden police radar speed traps;

5) Superb voice alerts on radar, laser and safety warnings (SWS), plus audio alerts;

6) Compact, watertight package for installation behind the grille, front bumper or rear bumper;

7) Fewest false radar alerts of any remote radar detector;

8) Easy to program for city X, X off, K, Ka Superwide, police laser, POP3 radar;

9) GPS modules included to isolate false radar traps and real radar traps, remember photo speed trap locations and red light intersection camera locations;

10) Includes the NEW ShifterZR4 Laser Jammers - 3 laser jammers to defeat any laser gun aimed at you, updated to defeat all laser guns used today, including the stealth, dual pulse laser guns - making the Escort Passport 9500ci radar detector a 5 Star rated remote radar detector. Remote mounted with cockpit voice alerts and small compact, Blue Display.

MAJOR FEATURES
NEW Escort Passport 9500ci Safety Camera Database - (pre-loaded with thousands of safety camera locations, including red light and fixed position speed cameras, located throughout North America)
NEW Escort 9500ci Web Ready for Location Database updates
NEW Escort 9500ci Trinity GPS Photo Trap database updates are optional.
NEW Dual LNA (low noise amplifier) receivers provide the longest possible warning against all radar threats, and reduces false alerts to minimum

Detects Standard Radar Bands: Ka Superwide, POP3, Laser, K and X plus alerts to all fixed photo radar speed trap locations
High and low voltage warning is given any time the vehicle’s voltage drops below 10.5 volts, or goes above 16.5 volts.
Easy-to-use Programming lets you customize up to 7 features and all radar bands with on/off features.
NEW Turtle Clamps allow the radar and laser modules to be easily installed into your vehicle using few, if any, drill holes
Modular Plug and Play telephone jack connections with color coded cables

NEW Ultra-bright BLUE text-display provides easy to read information from any angle.
Tech Display provides actual numeric radar frequency for any radar signal.
Passport 9500ci intelligently monitors your vehicle speed to provide max radar sensitivity, while slow vehicle speeds automatically decrease X and K band detection sensitivity to minimize false alerts

The Passport 9500ci seems like a very nice system. I just checked out the website and that seems to be my front runner now!

after getting a ticket for doing 104 in a 65 i've done a ton of research on R/D and L/J.

the 9500ci is the best radar detector but the zr-4 laser jammer (part of the 9500ci) sucks!

if you have a ton of money...buy the 9500ci and scrap the zr-4 laser heads and install a 4 head laser interceptor...by far, the best laser jammer on the market today.

if you're on a budget or don't want to spend the extra $1000 for the ci version...buy the 9500ix windshield mount and buy the 4 head laser interceptor (this is what i'm doing)...to me this is the bang for the buck!

the best defense is a combination of equipment and learning what to look for on the road.

a couple of sites that i visit frequently...and may help you make up your mind...

+1 Many still stand by the K40 but I think the vast majority of people are going with the 9500ix. How much is the laser interceptor? The 9500ix is $500, I think.
