I watched the first 25 laps and agree, the cars do look pretty bad.

I thought speed channel did a poll from audience members and asked what type of view points they wanted to see more while watching a race.

I thought the audience spoke and said more in car footage and definetly the telemetry. Speedo, tachometer, brake, + now they have the 80 HP boost which they were showing. I do know that the sponsors require their own air time but come on---you need to keep an audience

Its a rush watching the in car footage with the volume turned up seeing the LED light up on the steering wheel...

That was an amazing race. My favorite driver finished second after a bunch of banging. Great to see three Mercedes powered teams out there. This is going to be an exciting season.

It is going to be a very interesting season as the mega teams adapt to the new car format and we see who emerges victories.

On a sad note, these are the ugliest F1 cars in as long as I can remember and they are due to get worse next year.

I would even venture to say that my Fomula mazda is sexier than on '09 F1 car and the is just WRONG!

I would have to agree with you on that statement.
Do you think the on the second to last lap was a racing indident, or did kubica close the door too early

It would be hard to argue that.
No doubt, the new shape and appearance will be an acquired taste.

Hamilton finished 3rd after Glock took a post race 25 second penalty.

I actually haven't watched the race yet, just practice and qualifying. Sounds like it will be interesting!

basically the changes FIA implement to make the race competitive worked.
Unfortunatley all the driver concerns also came true - unable to heat up tires quickly, unable to see end plates of front wing, and setting sun into the drivers eyes.

Well it appears to me that this will be an out year for F1. What I mean by that is the changes will take time to sort out and smooth down.
The race last night was good but the days of F1 being the end all be all have certainly slowed and lost it's luster.
The cars look horrible now! I wish they could go back to the V-10 era and the gumball slicks.
Hopefully this down year (for me at least) will either pass or I will get used to the look of the cars and and adapt to the more restrictive rules.

Judging by yesterday's race, this will be a very exciting season. The shakeup brought on by the rules changes will make for some great racing this year. Guys like Hamilton, Alonso, Massa and Raikkonen will really be made to earn their pay. The Killer B's (Brawn, Button, Barrichello) will be out there mixing it up with the likes of Vettel and Kubica as well as the old guard.

I was up watching it. Great performance by Hamilton as expected... And vettel deserved the $50k fine. ruined it for himself and poor kubica.... I love the way the new McMerc looks from a side view... And I give the BRAWN team one more race at the top till McMerc and ferarri catches up and perfectes their cars.

Didn't they say that Brawn is the only company that had diffuser on a back? if it is the case I say it was the last race when Button won, Brawn clearly had an advantage over other cars, like take a look at first 4 laps, Brawn car was pulling away from the rest of the pack, like Shumi did 7-8 years ago

There are three teams with the special diffuser - Brawn, Williams, Toyota. It was interesting to hear Rubens say that his diffuser was badly damaged from a rear impact during the opening laps, and that his race pace was not due to the diffuser advantage.

button was plling away because he had nobody right infront of him to slow him down on turns... notice how towards the end of the race him and Vettel was keeping the same distance till vettel lost it

Apparently the diffusers Brawn were running had half a second a lap advantage which is a lot.
