Am sure some of you may have seen this but I stumbled upon the video showing a technician assemble one of our engines at the AMG assembly plant. Clip is in German but cool to see how they build our motors. I like how the system can pressure all cylinders to check for ring and valve leaks.

Actually a recent post discussed this topic as another W211 owner cracked a piston. It was originally thought that they could only be sold as matched sets. However, you can buy them searately. See the following p/ns:

Piston p/n: A 113 030 15 17 Retail: $660.00 (Standard size)
Piston p/n: A 113 030 17 17 Retail: $785.00 (Repair Size 97.25 mm)
ConRod p/n: A 113 030 04 20 Retail: $320.00
Bearing p/n: A 113 030 01 60 Retail: $37.00

I am not familiar with any aftermarket companies offering pistons for our cars, though I cannot imagine that there is no one out there making them.

How does your cylinder wall look? I read somewhere that our cylinders were Nikasil coated, thuogh I haven't validated this.
