Mikey, do you know if anyone has tried going a step colder on the ngk's with or without more boost? It just might prevent the ecu from retarding timing.

i'm running a step colder. considering my extra boost and the extreme heat and bad fuel we get here in az, i decided on a little extra help against detonation. probably not necessary for most and iat's are the bigger concern when it comes to the ecu and timing.

I am running a step colder as well. The only mods I have are headers. Though I have no data to prove it, I could not notice a drop in performance after the plugs went in.

yeah or you could just add 2-3 gallons of 100 racing fuel octane and that would help with the possibility of detonation as well..

rasing the octane usually will give the car some pep too.. and better milage.. slightly

obviously that would be nice and in a perfect world we'd get 100 octane at every pump and not have to worry about detonation at all. unfortunately adding race fuel every time i fill up just isn't as simple an option as you make it out to be.

I have never been able to tell any difference with them in any of my cars. From what I understand they last a little bit longer and that's about it as far as any kinds of gains. I just use regular NGK plugs in all my cars and jet ski's.

Makes sense to me. I will be changing out the plugs soon. Looks like a chore though.

They're actually really easy. I have very large hands and I did it without a problem and with no knuckle cuts. Once you get the coil packs out of the way, it's a cake walk.
