I am actually working on buying an 04 e55 with up2drive.com. Supposedly a division of BMW bank of North America and uses JP Morgan Chase. At least that is what the check they give you to write says on it. They seem pretty legit so far. Will require you and him to fax in car registration(must be in your name), Drivers license, Payoff Quote(if any), and notarized bill of sale, etc...

I think your car is priced right. Those offers are insanely low from someone hoping you'll come back at 22k and they can steal it from you. They think maybe you are just desperate enough and have to get rid of it.

I've decided I'm waiting until August of 2010 (insurance reasons) to move into a W211, but if I were looking to move now, yours would definitely be the first I would look at, even though it is not my ideal color.

I don't know...I bought my 2003 E55 for 18k (from a mercedes dealer) some 6 months ago...and I was offered a 2006 E55 with a fair bit of options for 30k...that was without warranty - but who cares at that price?

greetingz,

greetingz,

Your $28k is on the high side for a 2003 with 50k< miles on it, these days. But $15k and $17k are still way too low. You're realistically looking at a sale somewhere in the low/mid $20k's. I'd consider any offer that doesn't start with a "2" to be an insult, but at the same time your $28k asking price is pretty high. It's all a negotiation, and you have to start somewhere. You might try sending them a counter-offer, and seeing where it goes. Realistically speaking, I doubt anybody is going to accept your Buy It Now price, when you can buy an 05 or whatever for the same money.

I realistically want 27k for it, but if I put that ill get 26k, thats why I listed it for 28k.... plus my car is on the lower milage side for an 03.... and it has easy-care warranty, which I think is huge!

still low mileage but it's still an 03. i can see how this would bother some people.

i might be willing to pick it up if you'll help on shipping and start going toward the lower 20s. i still have my BMW so I'm not immediately looking for anything.

I think he's doing alright. Sure, $28k on an 03' is skimming the top range of 03' pricing, but it's not like he absolutely has to sell it for financial reasons. He's not looking for 10 people to buy the car, just one.

I'd re-evaluate here in a month or so. I'm not sure how time sensitive you are in selling it?

Top of the range for an '03 is more like $24k/$25k. For around what he is asking, you can pick up an '05 or '06 with less miles and factory warranty remaining.

I'm not trying to sandbag the guy, but $28k for a 2003 with those miles is high. If he wants to sit on it for months while it continues depreciating, I guess that's his business, but speaking realistically a fair sale on this car is low/mid $20k's. $28k is pretty far out of range, compared to the lower mileage and newer examples out there for the same money.

Hey man,
I really apprciate what you bring to the forum and you usually do give great advice. But, I have to disagree with you this time. Although there are examples of e55's for cheaper, I have seen many of these cars and the condition they are in is sad!!! It really means a lot when the owner of the car can pay to have the car properly serviced and maintained. Yes you can go out and buy one of those 2003 e55's for 20k, but I want you to tell me how that works out and how much you ended up spending bringing the car back to a decent condition. I priced my car perfectly for the market and condition. There is no money that needs to be spent on it in any way... And this means A LOT on an AMG .... IMHO

thanks,
Aleks

Well yeah, you're right about that point. I couldn't find a nice E55 to save my life. I looked at 10+ and they were all thrashed and beat up. I finally gave up.

Still, I dunno, $28k may be a lot to swallow for an '03. I certainly hope I'm wrong, and definitely wish you the best with your sale. It would definitely be nice seeing the car market rebound a little.
