Used SL65 Black Series @ my Dealership, interesting HE placement & CAI piping PIX!
Has 200-300 Miles on it, Dealer told me it was used as Pace Car & raced then traded-in (outfitted w/AMG stincled on-top front bumper) still asking full $304k engine compartment was pretty dirty when you looked closely, also 1 of the mesh slits on vented hood is busted!
Also told me local Santa Barbara resident is opting to Lease it (thought they were only selling these?) but told me if it goes thru deal was $25k down w/$8-$8500 per month
Now onto interesting engine bits I got up close! the new CAI boxes have a simple looking flexible piping w/C-clamps & most importantly don't have 2-3 90 degree bends in piping design back to turbo's as ALL other 600/65's do, piping goes directly from straight thru box to backside of turbo inlet, also the Intercoolers looked exactly same/size/placement as older 600/65's
Heat Exchanger is mounted up top in front of the radiator & fan which is now set @ a good 25 or so Degree angle away from engine pulleys/accessories lots of space for cooling in there now...
Worst part was realizing how wimpy my SL looks in comparo
PIX!
Note:The angled fan & new extra spacing between engine accessories!

More pix...
Heat Exchanger pix ending #'s 1450a/1450b shot was taken thru front top MB Star grill, HE is long & thin no more than 2 1/2" 2 3/4" in height by near full length of grill, width maybe 2" + thick (my best gusetimate given circumstances)
Edit: Heat Exchanger left & right sides mounted top front of radiator
Busted Mesh slit on hood right side of pic' dealer didn't even notice...

Nice pix...thx. Custom stitched interior sounds sweet. One overpriced car but I do like the rear fenders which remind me of my F450's...

I'm probably an idiot, but that's what it looks like to me.

Way too much money for that car. Also, i've read 3 articles and none of them were very complimentary of how it behaved on the track.
Still, if somenone wanted to give me one... LOL

I thought it kind of looked incredibly cheap for a $300k car. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but it looks like flexible air duct tubing coming in from restricted holes left and right of the radiator and into cheap airboxes.
I'm probably an idiot, but that's what it looks like to me.

Airboxes/tubing look even cheaper in person, the actual flexible plastic material feels/looks like the big tube coming out of the back of my clothes dryer in laundry room Why didn't they at least make the air-boxes outt've Carbon Fiber? Hell when I popped the trunk the entire under side was encased in CF...You do get something extra for the premium price tag, a cute lil' leather hat box in trunk goes to the new owner
I wish! 1st thing I asked the salesman "Do you guys take kidneys?" he answers "Yes, & arms/legs" LoL
Jon2007E63P30 My bet is that this is one of the cars used during the press release back in Nov 2008 at Laguna Seca.
