Well since looks clearly doesn't matter to you (haha) The E63, it has so many amazing new things and the panamera will have some kinks to work out, as well I don't think it has as many features, just more buttons, haha.

Also, it is going to cost you so much $ to get the panamera setup to match the benz, every little ****ing thing is an option and a costly one at that, I spent under 1 minute to make this and if you go there and dig through it, I am sure there will be much more.

Panamera 4S $93,800

Performance

Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) inc. Rear Differential Lock $4,460
Adaptive Air Suspension in Conjunction with PDCC $1,990

Audio and Communications

Telephone Module with Cordless Handset $1,625
6 disc CD/DVD changer $650
BOSE® Surround Sound-System $1,440

Total Price* $103,965

Also an option, the seats...

The benz will be faster, probably more intuitive and in my opinion, not as ugly.

I don't consider the Panamera or the Cayenne to be Porsches.

So I'd go with a C4S or a TT. If it had to be a sedan, get the E63. Don't reward Porsche's bad behavior.

I have to second that.

I can't wait to boycott the Porsche Hybrid too.

I wonder what that one will be call with the names of late. The Chili Pepper maybe?

I'm not a fan of everything porsche does, but they sure seem to know that they're doing.

The panamera is a very polarizing car - love it or hate it is most people's reaction.

If it gets any of the porsche DNA it will be a VERY good drivers car. And, the TT will go like stink

I wasn't a big fan of the Cayenne either...until I drove the Turbo, and this was the first gen Cayenne Turbo. I can only imagine what the new Turbo and Turbo S are like behind the wheel!

I am considering the Cayenne GTS (with PDCC) as a replacement for the E63 when the lease ends next year - I never thought I'd consider an SUV/SAV for a daily driver, but here I am expecting our 2nd child and the utility priority is changing.

I'm not a fan of the Panamera on picture, but I'm sure if the Porsche DNA is intact, it'd be a brilliant drive. Aston Martin seems to also be leveraging their current design language with the Rapide, and I'm also not sure how successful that is until I see it in the flesh.

Was at porsche driving school in the fall and got a hot lap in a cayenne turbo S and it was UNREAL. Nothing that heavy should be able to do what that thing did on the track.

The Porsche puts you in the big league. E Class MB's even the AMG's are a dime a dozen, much like the run of the mill Corvettes

I know I'm gonna get shot for this but...I love the way the Panamera looks, and the interior seems to be amazing, from the pictures, looking at the options list makes it seem like a bentley, I mean you can even have the air vents inside covered in leather! Yeah the S won't be as fast as the E63, but you can get it with a stick, or the amazing PDK, and you know it will handle sublimely. But the E63 is so damn sexy, idk, it's a hard choice.

Why is it between those two models, phonetics? Or is this simply a hypothetical?

I bought an early Cayenne TT in 04 and I understand that the Panamerica is based on the same platform, based on that experince I wouldn't darken a porsche dealers door. I've owned the three E class AMG's and loved everyone.

Drives Slowly
I just put this puppy together for $165,000. Should I be impressed with this pathetically inept attempt from Porsche? A four-door, 500 hp sedan that is only about six years too late to the game?

Chris, please sell your TT in protest. Believe me, Ferdinand Alexander is not proud.

Hey Dave, how's it going? Yeah, they are late to the party but like their business model or not, they are rarely wrong. I'm not a huge fan but I still think it will end up being a great drivers car.

As far as the build price - that's one of the things I actually like about p. Unlike other companies that sell options packages, where you always are forced to take something you don't want, they allow you to truly customize your car. I have over 30K of options in my car and wouldn't change a thing. Actually I'd add a couple if I had to do it over again but who's counting LOL. 165K?? wow, what'd you put in that bad boy. I just did a quick turbo build and came out around 142K. That is one ulgy color you chose there LOL. You get to pay extra for that as well. The white actually looked OK on the site. didn't seem to be nearly as many leather options as there was buildling my car.

There's only one thing I'd sell the car for right now (that's somewhat "reasonable").

That P car is BUTT ugly. Agreed it may be the best performer in the class but not one I would ever buy. Don't confuse it and the 911, which is my favorite (along with the SL65 BS).

X5 M will be cheaper with 555hp...much better than Cayenne..As to the Panamera, Porsche underestimates there track times big so the 4S will probably do mid 4's to 60 but doesnt change how fugly that thing is!!

In this price range, you should love virtually everything about the car, with aesthetics and performance being paramount. I personally don't like the Panamera's roofline, and would gladly give up some rear headroom to get a sleeker profile. I'd wait for the next CLS AMG or M5.

.
Cayenne GTS is a bone/marketing gimmick imo...now the Cayenne Turbo is a great car...the new one is way less ugly and has 493bhp...new turbo S will have around 540bhp

Last year I was in the process of buying an 08 Cayenne TT from the same far wealthier friend from whom I bought my W220...unfortunately I couldn't make the numbers work but what a car...only one i'd trade the iS for, money permitting of course

Two things to consider is that anything less than the TT will be a big disappointment coming from an E63 and also an SUV is only more practical than a sedan if you've got a dog...

We happen to have a dog! A little less than 20 pounder, but it's still a dog!

I am not completely sold on the idea of an SUV as my daily driver yet, have to drive the GTS and the RR/RR Sport Supercharged with the new 500 bhp Jaguar engine. I'm a big fan of BMW but the X5M/X6M just isn't my thing; a buddy has an E53 X5 4.8is which is a tasty dish, but the new M versions with the body claddings isn't what I'd be looking for.

A dog is a dog no doubt....I've got a slobbery 110lb Rott and every time we take him for a walk wish he was a 20pounder

Yah, 4.8iS is nice, essentially the same as the 4.6iS but new colors, rims and an extra 200cc/12bhp. I can understand avoiding the new body cladding though, doesn't look the best on the spyshots.

RR Sport should be a hoot with that new 500 horse engine...I think it's a great looking ute that's made the full size RR look real dated

I'm sure an E63 is a VERY hard car to give up and there's certainly aspects you'll miss switching to an SUV. g/luck and let me know what ends up happening...i'm nosey like that...

Please do us all a favor and buy the E63, the Panamera is not a car to buy. First off, it really is hideous in the back section of the car. A 100K hatch really doesn't interest me at all, just reminds me of my grandma's station wagon. Sure the performance will be great considering it is a porsche however the E63 still has more power considering they are using the 500HP turbo engine from the Cayenne in the Panamera Turbo. Secondly true porsche enthusiast will look at the panamera and think that the designers at porsche took some sort of illegal drug while designing the vehicle and even during the concept stages. After this you can see why the E63 is the best choice, plus you have another car that we can all discuss on this very forum. Hope this helps!

Cheers,

AMG1

Panamera > E63

Just imagine a GIAC-flashed 600hp/600lb-ft torque+ Panamera Turbo S with the new 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and carbon ceramic brakes E63 is not even in the same league...

A lot of porsche enthusiasts have thought porsche has been taking drugs for quite some time now LOL. But, you can't argue with their success.
