best intake..

whats the best intake for these E55's? I have read about the ICE-Tuning Carbon Fiber intake but see that those are no longer available.. I love the way they make the supercharger scream and 15-20 hp gains are not too bad for an intake.. whats our options now?

Last I heard, VRP was still working on the intake prototype. I want my blower to whine louder and the gain in power is nice. I think the challenge to this setup is routing the intake through the radiator support. It is somewhat constrictive, but the only way to route the tubes outside of the engine compartment.

The other problem is that any intake will pass right by the radiator support which will get superheated. There needs to be some material that buffers the heat transfer but also doesn't reduce the intake diameter. 6 years into these E55's and the perfect air intake has still not really been developed.

I am working on a project that will take a stock E55 to 700HP with bolt-ons.

I am trying to make it as modular as I can. So it can be purchased in parts and assembled as budget allows.

Please stay tuned more info is coming shortly.

there's a few cars that are right around that number with bolt-ons.

If your car is stock, first thing is get a pulley, ecu tune and an intake/filters. That will bring up gower power and torque right away. You're good with going to VRP and getting the VRP 550 Package or to LET Tuning/Eurocharged, get a 180mm pulley, ecu retune and free up some air via sport filters or much better yet an intake such as VRPs Intake or TVTs intake tubes with K&Ns.

*Note when running an 180mm pulley, a Johnson CM30 IC pump and heat exchanger is a must!* It's a must on all pulley/tune cars just for consistent power delivery and cooler temps. Get a 172mm pulley if you don't want to do this but you should do it anyway for the benefits of knowing your supercharger will never shut off*

On VRPs site, their VRP 550 package $2400 (ecu, pulley, sport filters) did 465rwhp with 512rwtq.

On Dragtimes, an LET Stage 1 $1700(Pulley and tune) 443rwhp and 524rwtq. Their website dyno has 436rwhp and what looks like 550rwtq+.

You can go wrong with either. Check it out:

http://vrptuning.com/cart/index.php?...products_id=41

http://www.letmotorsports.com/mb.asp...5&category=all

Also, GMP Performance has a Kleemann sale, you can get a Kleemann ECU Tune, Pulley and Filters for $1645. The pulley is a much smaller 165mm, but still a great package.

GMP Performance Kleemann Special:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...rformance.html

I would like to say that it's more than good advice and suggestion to get an upgraded heat exchanger (Code 3, LET, etc.) and an upgrade IC pump such as the Johnson CM30 to go along with your Pulley, ECU tune and intake package. It doesn't make sense to make power that you know you can't run consistently on any given bases without comprimises. The heat exchanger and IC pump will ensure consistency and help get rid of the supercharger shutdown. I would also advise to look into a -10 degree fan mod to get the fans on earlier. It's done via accessing STAR.

https://mbworld.org/forums/3067645-post8.html

After doing that, get some headers from either Kleemann (on sale right now from GMP) or VRP. A headers, pulley, ecu tune, and filters/intake E55 should more than well be into the 11s. Enjoy your ride!

Thanks so much man... What pulley will gain most power and boost? 180, 172 or 165?

I am working on bigger intercooler kit. It will require it's own intake, which I want to make sure fits stock cars as well.

I will have more info next week. Thank you for waiting.
