2009 CTS-V

Wsup guys, my lease is coming up, and I've just been snooping around different dealerships seeing if there is anything out there that I haven't seen, or don't know about...I came across the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V... Reading the specs, and watching a few videos, this car seems similar to our beloved E55... Has anybody driven this car, raced this car, or knows somebody that owns this car? Any info would be nice, Just doing some re-search on the car, interested in knowing what some of the boys think about it... Its just a thought, and not usually a car id pick up, but its very attractive both power and looks.

There are tons of threads about the CTS-V on this forum, just do a simple search.

I drove one, BTW. Impressive engine, typical sh*t Cadillac quality for the interior and fit/finish. It feels...well, kinda like a cheap Cadillac, which is what it is.

If you're accustomed to AMG/MBZ quality, I imagine you'll come away disappointed as I did. The 550hp engine & magneto suspension doesn't disappoint, but IMO the rest of the car (what makes it livable day in & day out) does.

do a search. Your best bet is to go check one out and test drive it. Some people on the forums say the interior is crap although 80% of everybody else thinks the interior is great for the price. Oh and you can get the cts-v in a 6spd stickshift. Something you can't find in the amg.

Just dont ask the C63 guys, they'll tell you it sucks, and its an old mans car(as if MB drivers are the youngest),and their car is superior. Do yourself a favor, go test drive it and i'm sure you'll be more then satisfied.

well it has 50 more hp and is a much much newer car compared to the 55k
so...

what i find most impresive if it is really true to all stock cars, is the fact this car wops all the AMG and M cars in its catigory on the TRACK
Now that is somthing to talk about

i don't think it "wops" the M-cars on the track from what I've read...it *may* edge the M5 by a little but that's it and it won't turn in as quicker times as the E90/92 M3 unless they race at Daytona...

whatever dude...he's a troll and posted up the old M3 time...the new one runs 8.05 and the E46 CSL did it in 7.50secs.

Manufacturers change loads of things...Porsche couldn't do better than a 7.54 on a gt-R from the SHOWROOM and this time was quicker than the magazine's got for it. Nissan cheated, GM cheated...do you believe everything your fed by the big corporations??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordsch...ction_vehicles

Let me guess, the CTSV had tires, ECU, shocks...........

Wasn't aware of the dude's reputation...but hey, if it's online it must be true, right?

The CTS-V's time seems reasonable if the conditions are just right when compared to the competition. It's also worth noting that the car tested in the video was an automatic. But then again, I wouldn't hold it past GM to show up with a ringer.

2009 E63 AMG
I think it's a great car all around. I don't think it has the exclusiveness of any Mercedes Benz. I have people breaking their neck to get a look at my 63. I highly doubt anyone would be doing that with the V. Granted I may be wrong lol

Hence why I said IF it hold true to all the stock ones you can get

I am well aware that most seem to cheat. Including the M group!

Still remember the m3 vs IS F....the M3 came with pilot cup tires on.... hmm yeah sure those are stock

Bottom line seems to be really good on paper, will have to see the actual real user side, and not the mag/ news info we get to really get the picture

Cup tires were stock on the CSL. I believe the same tires are actually an option on the new ones...I saw one on the lot with them but may've been dealer added.

2003 E55
I just sold my 2004 V that had a Madman Racing Ford 9" rearend and an HKE built 457CID LS7 based motor. I never drag raced this car but it put 520HP to the ground and would flat out stomp my E55. It was a really nice car to drive.... Definitely not a Mercedes Benz, more visceral.... but an absolute blast to drive. All that said, I like the E55 better. However, the 2009 is improved in many ways and is only a pulley and tune away from 600RWHP. Damn.

Troll? I've been here longer then you. I'm stating the numbers that are out there for the world to see, and even an 8.05 is still very short. If you dont like it, dont respond.

I would bet with simple bolt-on mods (pulley, tune, exhaust, intake) the new CTS-V would start spanking some of the fastest E55 on MBwolrd. They may however become a bit of a shop queen as the older ones seemed to be in the shop alot... Really though would it be anymore than our AMG's? IDK??? Also the CTS-V will be supported well on the aftermarket.

The C63 guys seem to live in their own world. I think they forget that the CTS-V is also a de-tuned car just like their C63. Except its de-tuned to 550hp not 451hp.

What makes the E55 so good its its (as you know) a V8 supercharged hand build motor. And thats exactly what the CTS-V is. FI is the way to go. I've played the NA game for a while and I'm done with that.

Drive it and beat the **** out of it thats the only way to know.

Drive a used one with some miles on it...the fit and finish on any domestic car when new can be deceiving. After 20-30k miles.. (hell, even after 2-3k miles with some cars) you get the squeaks and rattles, plastic lids not opening and closing properly, and dash/etc cracking/falling apart-especially at these power and rigid suspension levels.

Any car I plan on owning and actually DRIVING will probably be European from this point on...my 01 e39 M5 looked, felt and drove like it had 18k miles on it at 185k, My current E55 has just hit 100k (I drive 1k+ miles/week) and most people think it has about 20-30k, even after being inside of it.

I personally like the new CTS-V regardless what anyone says. The car is a proven beast in every category. I don't want to bring the thread off topic but has anyone seen the RS6 sedan with a chip running 730hp and keeping up with exotics. I believe that the CTS-V with tune and pulley will be doing the same.
