So last night I'm pulling into the driveway after driving the E63 for a few hours, and as I pull in the garage lights click on and I see smoke coming from under the hood. I didnt think much of it at first, I thought it was just something burning off, but as I got out of the car I began to hear a hissing sound coming from the front of the car.

The hissing sound was coming from behind the grill, so I knew right away it was coming from the radiator, but I had no idea why...... I ran inside and got a flashlight so I could see what the problem was, I just figured the radiator had blown. Some coolant was sprayed infront of the radiator, but I didn't see a big puddle, or anything that would make me think the radiator had blown.

One of my friends was with me, and he pointed out a black box rubbing against the radiator, about 4 inches down from where the hood latch is. He moved the box and as he did the hissing got louder. When I looked at the box closer it had K40 on the side. The dealer had made a VERY big mistake and mounted the control box for the K40 so close it wore a hole in the radiator.

I now know why the K40 has not been working for the past few months, I just have not had anytime to get the car over to the dealer. I'm going to call my service advisor tomorow and get the car towed in, I don't want to risk anymore damage if the car overheats on the ride over.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I don't see how they couldn't stand behind that but what a pain in the *** for you. I'd try to negotiate a deal on an extended warranty or something else for such an inconveince. GL

Thanks everyone! I went around the block with the car today to see how bad the leak is, and it didnt leak much at all. The only reason it was bad the other night was because I had been on a two hour ride. I think I will still have them tow it to the dealer because I would rather wait for a tow truck at the house than have this thing blow on the way to the dealer and be stuck on the side of the road.

Dude....I mean that sucks for you. But if you see smoke coming from ANYWHERE besides the tailpipes you better think something of it...

Yea, under the radiator there is a piece of plastic with a big AMG logo, now covered on coolant LOL

Should have explained it better, it wasnt smoke, just a little steam. If I had blinked I think I would have missed it lol. The radiator was hissing so loud I thought there would be a puddle of coolant under the car, only a nice spray on the inside of the motor though.
