I was waiting for these! Its a good thing I wandered here.
I did contact ECS some time ago on bimmerpost. I bought a kit for my 06 E90 some months ago (was one of the first). Their kit was the first true error free set up for my MY and I really liked them. The bulbs were expensive but worth it for a quality piece with good customer service to boot. Its good to know they have a W211 solution now and will be picking one up ASAP. All this while I never thought to try the bulbs I already have, on the W211 hahahaha.

Ok just placed an order for a set.
Jon @ ECS have advised me of a W211 specific application page for specs and ordering. Disregard the different part number/name, its the same application as the BMW E9X, he added.

marcus you can email them and if it does not work they will refund your money. the shipping is also free. although at this point i do not see any reasons why it would not workon the 230.

Jus an update...
I ended up taking mine out because one side didn't work. It would work only in a certain position. I tried flipping it both ways and it just wouldn't stay on. I would randomly turn them on to make sure they are working. They would work for a couple minutes and then I would get a notice that one side was working. I would get home to check and it would be out. I played with it for a couple days and I couldn't get it to work. Oh well...Just my experience with them...I'm glad you guys aren't havin this much trouble. Maybe it's just my car...

Will they honor a replacement even thought I'm using a "BMW" bulb for a mercedes?

I bought these....
MK5 Jetta / GLI LED License Plate Bulbs - Set Of 2 ES#252845
On a side note I think all of the bulbs are the same they are just labeled with the cars they are known to work on so that people know exactly what they need to order.

Call ECS their customer service is good, they'll help you out. So the problem does move from one side to the other when you swap the bulbs - right? In which case it's a defective bulb and I'm sure they'll replace it without a problem.

Although they are the same, maybe I'll ask them to replace it with the MK5 Jetta / GLI bulbs? thanks fer the heads up!

I tried the "defective" bulb on both sides and in both directions and it didn't work. Sometimes the other bulb would turn off when I closed the trunk and would magically turn back on after I pop it.

I think the bulbs are the same too. When I got the bulbs for my E90 (last fall), the packaging was still labeled as 'MK5 Jetta/GLI'. It was a new application for the E90 then. ECS confirmed it was the same bulbs and I remained surprised it works with the W211 as well (talk about multi platform applications).

Call their customer service for a replacement.
I'm pretty confident these bulbs should work well.
Again, there were many attempts to introduce an error-free plug & play LED bulb on the pre-08 E9X and this was the first bonafide solution that worked without errors and flickers. Just my experience.

I am surprised at how many people are getting these. The light looks cool but why do you want someone to get your tags if you every drive around like a jackass. You'd be surprised how many citizens will take your plate down. I think I might remove my bulbs even and change my plate to:
0O0OO00O or 1II1I1I11I or something like that so that folks can't nab me so easily.

If you're one of the 80+mph and is concerned about being reported, I would think twice of putting it on.

Just put in the Led plate lights last night I got on E-Bay, a link from another member put up. They work great and no error, only problem is overkill for me, way to bright. they don't seem to look the same as you see on the Lexus. Will try something else or just put the stock ones back in.
